“What’s up with Lindsey?,”

Since Teddy Kennedy took his dirt nap its almost as if Shamnesty has become “the swimmer” reincarnate.

You sound like an apologist for the “Hate America” of the GOP....the one who supports Lindsey Graham, McCain, and the other Soros funded pro-illegals in the GOP

Are you sure you are not a plant for the illegal alien lobby?

I can assure you this American will fight against Illegal Alien Amnesty no matter which Hate America politican pushes it. Hispano-Racists, Globalists, and America Haters of all forms will feel my wrath again if they push Illegal Alien Amnesty

Thank you for that. Note with,”Let me be clear: when I talk about “immigration reform,” I’m referring to what I call the “three-legged stool” that includes a commitment to serious and effective enforcement, improved legal flows for families and workers, and a firm but fair way to deal with those who are already here.”
Serious and effective enforcement. Just like health care where they want something new without proving they can fix whats already broken. There’s been the barest hint of enforcement these many years. Why am i,are we,supposed to believe they can do it right this time?

I wonder if SC is one of the states that allows recall of federal representatives/senators.

I believe that 17 or 18 states have procedures for it.

I am a law-abiding American citizens, a Vietnam vet, and have worked hard all my life, paid my taxes, and played by the rules. We now have a government that wants to reward the criminality of the illegal invaders. I have one question: I want to know what law or laws I can break or what crime or crimes I can commit that not only will I NOT be punished for breaking or committing, but will be rewarded, as well.

“All it will do is create 12-20 million more residents on the government plantation who will subserviently vote for their masters.”

It will be the final nail in the coffin of what was once the greatest experiment in freedom the world has ever known. ANYONE who supports this insult to our republic is a traitor, and should be treated as such.

My daughter lives in SC and while she said he was always weak, he seems to have gone over the top lately. I guess Bambi is really cultivating him. And metrosexuals of a feather flock together...

I’m sure he wants to keep them kissably soft. On second thought, maybe he’s putting lotion on Obama’s hands.

Did anybody expect otherwise?

I thought that we should have worked two years ago with Bush to reach an acceptable arrangement on this, but the problem was that the left fanned hatred of Bush to such an extent that there was going to be no way to deal with this until a Dem got into office. And everybody knew that a Dem was going to win the next election, so all they had to do was prevent any action under Bush and wait until they could get everything they wanted.

I always thought some of our now-disappeared anti-immigration posters here who referred to Bush as “Jorge” and had spittle flying off of their chins were Dem plants meant to undermine Bush and keep this issue from being resolved until it could be handed over to the Dems so they could use it to harvest 12 million new voters. And now we see them doing just that.

Shirley, you jest?

I was one of those who called Bush "JORGE" and McLame "JUAN."

Can you seriously suggest that what W and McCain wanted to accomplish is NOT (COMPLETE AMNESTY) the same as what DEAR LEADER wants?

Give me a break!!!

No, I’m not. I just think we should have worked on it while we had the chance.

The people who were here during the discussion of the Bush plans and were foaming at the mouth rather than making positive suggestions have mysteriously disappeared, and I am convinced that a lot of them were Dem plants who were trying to stir up dissension so that this problem could not be dealt with under Bush and would be passed on to an entirely Dem administration.

Remember, Bush had a Dem legislature at that point, and I think he was actually trying to arrive at some kind of plan that would provide some safeguards and controls but would still be able to get through Congress. The whole thing should have been taken up earlier, when the GOP was still in charge, but there were other more pressing problems at that time (like the Iraq war).

Still, anybody who thought the Dems were going to be better, or more willing to accomodate, on this issue was out of their minds. And now we’re stuck with what they want to give us.

It would have been possible to work with them. Bush scaled back several times, but remember, he had a Dem congress and had to be able to get it through the legislature. I think if we had pressed the issue constructively, we could have gotten something through that would have been more acceptable, although obviously it would not satisfy people who wanted internment camps and mass deportations (which I did see suggested here). However, there was a happy medium, not perfect, but possible, and we should have gotten what we could and not left it open for the Dems.

Handing this over to the Dems GUARANTEED that what we were going to get was something that would satisfy nobody but the Dem party. Just wait till we start getting regular legal-right-off-the-boat shipments of ME and African Muslims (one of the things the Dems wanted two years ago was an even higher quota for people from those countries). You think we have problems now?

The Dems are not going to be even slightly interested in your input. They’ve got what they want.

This only convinces me all the more that Zero is hell bent on destroying this country. Its becoming increasingly obvious that he’s willing to sacrifice majorities in Congress for his agenda. What I can’t understand is how moderate democrats, with their political rears on the line, would allow the false messiah to destroy them, along with the country they have sworn to protect and serve. The backlash to this will be incredible!

Did anyone doubt it? I sure as he** didn’t. I know that many who voted for the POS in the oval office don’t want amnesty but they didn’t vet this idiot and now look what we have.

12? more like 30+.

Why?

American companies wouldn’t bother marketing to them if they were not at least 10% of the market.

That’s at least 30 million.

Think about it.

Also, how long have they been throwing this “12” figure around?

Don’t they have kid?

Are not more coming all the time?

12! More like 30+.

Did you bother to read the McCain-Kennedy-Bush Amnesty bill?

It also allowed anyone to say they had a job needing a worker could sponsor in anyone..... even if they had been (the sponsor) an illegal themselves.

Now as we look at a realistic unemployment rate of 15% in some states, let's hang this around the Democrats neck.

My point is that we should have done something and offered an alternative. The status quo clearly was not working. But what would have been a good plan?

We only screamed unrealistic options (intern them all) and put ourselves out of the game. In my entire time reading these threads, I never saw anybody here post a good, solid alternative plan.

This problem has actually been taken care of by unemployment, because Latin Americans - the group that everybody here seemed to hate - come for the jobs, and now that there are no jobs, most of them are gone from their street corners and are back in their countries.

So now Obama is going to legalize everybody here - and these are not just Latin Americans, but lots and lots of Somalis, African Muslims from elsewhere in Africa, Middle Easterners, disease-ridden Chinese who work as prostitutes - you name it. And then the Dems are going to change the laws so that these groups get preference.

Bush actually tried to get special status for persecuted Christians in the ME and Africa, and he got no support on it. There are many things we should have pushed for, but I really think we blew it and now the consequences are going to be seriously bad and will skew our elections and our country for some time to come.
