ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The former Louisiana congressman who famously hid $90,000 cash in his freezer and was later convicted of federal bribery charges on Friday was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

good question,i’d bet not.
Never bet on a(almost) sure thing!
mylife: Personally I think he deserves more time for using our NG during Katrina to move his goods while people were in true danger.
patriot preacher; No Special Report? No headline above the fold?! No screaming from the rooftops? WHeres ABC? CBS? NBC? MSNBC? CNN? CNNHN? No round the clock updates on the corruption of the Democrat party? No Investigative reports on the vast LEFT wing conspiracy?
Just exactly right! Imagine if this had happened to...oh...say...ummmm...TOM DELAY or Foley.
We heard more about DeLay than this piece of excrement and I still have no idea what DeLay allegedly did that removed him from CONgre$$.
It took way too long. What happens to the Congressman’s House(?) seat? Can LA gov. appoint a fill-in or must there be a full-blown election?
Actually, his sentencing and incarceration couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s one vote Pelosi/Reid may not be able to count on for Onadacare.
All analogies limp, savedbygrace. That one has a REAL hitch in its getalong :)
An adjustment is in order.
“Voting your congressman out of office is like being...” LIBERATED “... in a way.”
We’re taking our country back, one election at a time.
Good news, but I guess that means he wouldn’t talk about some of the others.
What’s interesting about William Jefferson’s name is that they are the two given names of Bill Clinton’s birth name, William Jefferson Clinton.
His seat was filled by GOP Cao, who has already voted for PelosiCare. There is no question that anybody who fills that seat will vote for ObamaCare. It’s the 9th Ward of NOLA. He will almost certainly lose to a Dem in 2010, unless he’s running against somebody on death row - then it would be a squeaker...
Thanks for that info. IMHO the next mid-term and presidential elections are shaping up to be anything but what I was anticipating only a couple of months ago.
This past mid-term demonstrated that there is finally a stiring among the so-called Silent Majority.
And the commie demrats know it. That is why Onada is telegraphing that he will be focusing on the burgeoning deficit problem next year. Whether he really will or not remains to be seen. But the neat thing is that which ever way he goes it’s a no-win for Team Onada. If he seriously tries to reign in spending he will lose his base. And I think the damage he’s done so far to economy will not undone. He and his commie spokespersons have floated the idea of another bail out, but he can’t do that AND cut spending. Ditto for Tax and Trade. Can’t do that AND cut spending. Ditto for Onadacare. Can’t do that AND cut spending.
On the other hand, if Onada continues his reckless spending the economy continues to flounder. That will drive up unemployment, home foreclosures, bank failures etc. and etc.
I’m trying to restrain myself from becoming exuberantly optimistic. But things seem to be heading in that direction—if one is a conservative.
