Congressional Republicans along with independent Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman are not happy with the Obama administration's decision to try alleged Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (left) and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees in civilian federal court in New York.
"The Obama Administration's irresponsible decision to prosecute the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks in New York City puts the interests of liberal special interest groups before the safety and security of the American people," said House Republican leader John Boehner in a statement. "The possibility that Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his co-conspirators could be found 'not guilty' due to some legal technicality just blocks from Ground Zero should give every American pause."
"This decision is further evidence that the White House is reverting to a dangerous pre-9/11 mentality treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue and hoping for the best," he added.
Sen. Republican Whip Jon Kyl, meanwhile, said "It is a constant amazement to me that there are some who seem more concerned about extending legal protections to terrorists than security protection to Americans."

My bad... it was “brass pair”. Forgive me for being crude.
The same idiots will pull the lever for him again.
The majority of Americans have awakened to the disaster of Obama. I hope we can stop the madman in time!
As Rush said this morning this trial will not be about them but about us....how evil America is. If these joke trials let them go, liberal politicians everywhere will have nowhere to hide. 3,000 Americans where killed on 9/11, that’s you and me!...not 3,000 politicians!
If that is the case, how are the people of the USA going to be in the jury?
Perhaps we should bring in more of the mohammed pigs from abroad to make up the jury?
Hussein needs to be removed soon.
Unfortunately, get used to it. These liberal bast---- will never stop doing the wrong thing. When O is kicked out in 2012, I just wonder if the damage they have done can ever be repaired?
I'm getting tired of "alleged" being used to understate the obvious.
Nor would I. There's plenty of classified information that will be leaked, as well.
Won't matter, IMHO...he's lost the independents.
The only thing he'll find is how much disrespect these jihadi monsters and their attorneys-to-be, have for Leaky Leahy's judicial system
BRING ON THE CIRCUS. COME ONE, COME ALL, THE OBAMANATION'S IN TOWN.
I hope so.
The trials are a planned deiversion from the real devastation the scuministration is doing with cap&tax, obamacare, and support for the Copenhagen porotocols. Additionally, Afghanistan will be allowed to become a quagmire murdering soldiers unnecessarily as the dutiful sycophnatic media focus the nation’s attention onto the scam trials. The Marxist don;t care how outraged consewrvatives become so long as they are not focused upon the real agenda of this Republic ending scaministration. Holder is doing exactly what he has been hired to do, give distraction cover to the marxist sonofabitch while he destroys the nation.
Those bastards should have been dead long ago.
I’m convinced that this administration is doing everything possible to cause a massive civil uprising in this country . This is the biggest disconnect between the citizens of this country and an admimistration that I have ever seen in over 60 years . zer0 does not even care or consider the will of the people on any issue ,, as a matter of fact he has NO PROBLEM FORCING HIS ILL WILL on the good people of this country . Anarchy is our future at this rate ,, do not invest in gold ,, buy lead .
The political impact of this decision is precisely why it was delayed until after the recent elections. NJ and Virginia were both in the vicinity of the 9-11 attacks (and the place of residence of some of the victims) and NY-23 was within the state which bore the brunt. Had this announcement been made the Friday before the elections, NY-23 would likely have had a different result. Hoffman has just been handed the second plank in his platform for 2010 (the first having been the Dem’s health care vote).
It amazes me. These people would have advocated serving a warrant on Hitler before commencing D-Day. Point being, criminal laws don’t apply to acts of war. The normal rules of war (Geneva Convention) don’t even apply to terrorism. The Geneva Convention is, basically, a hostage situation that was pre-bargained. It was not agreed to so as to benefit others but rather to protect our own. The problem is it presumes that the other side values their people as we do our own. When they strap bombs onto their own people it shows the total inapplicability of the Geneva Convention (aside from the stateless issue). Frankly, I wish Bush had sat down with Britain and our other terrorist allies and drafted a new convention on dealing with terrorists. I know, just shoot them, would have been the best result but it would have resulted in constant legal turmoil. If the laws and conventions had been clear on the matter then they could have just acted on it before Obama got his chance.
