Move afoot to outlaw divorce

A California man wants divorce outlawed.

John Marcotte has filed for a ballot initiative to protect traditional marriage in the state of California as an extension of the work related to Proposition 8, the voter-approved constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. In essence, Marcotte's project would legally ban divorce.

"Marriage is an important and sacred institution, and I'm just trying to safeguard it in really the most direct way possible," he states.

He says he needs the help of California's registered voters in acquiring "700,000 valid signatures, which likely translates into 1,000,000 [signatures] total." He further reports that he only has about five months to gather that support for the 2010 California Marriage Protection Act.

Maybe this would make people think instead of just going into a marriage without knowing the spouse. People get married out of obligation and then wonder what happened when they wake up with a black eye.

>>So anyone trying to leave an abusive spouse or a cheater will be SOL?<<

Yep.

I have no problem with that. God’s laws are above man’s. People would think twice about getting married. And those that did would hopefully understand that they are making a commitment before God and man that they are joining themself “until death” to another human being.

With true commitment comes responsibility, and risk.

The risk is significant, but with great risk comes great rewards.

This isn’t going to happen.

If not, then the femi-nazi's that control our courts will have won.

So now I’m praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don’t think that I can really survive
I’ll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I’m praying for the end of time
It’s all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!

Face it, divorce will not be outlawed. Nobody would marry and attorneys would lose a source of revenue.

Even God allows divorce under certain and specific cases.

He is trying to point out the “hypocrisy” of those who stand opposed to same sex marriage.

Exactly. Typical liberal meta-hypocrisy (i.e. you're a hypocrite for not being perfect before you tell me I'm wrong when I can't defend my own position). They preen in front of mirrors and tell themselves they're brilliant for this kind of crap.

Bring back dueling, says I. That'll shut the cowardly liberal foul mouth.

Divorce may not be outlawd, but at least the State could and should TAX the idiots who do divorce.

Divorce costs this country plenty. And if you want a divorce, you should pay a Divorce Tax.

Bet he’s a gay guy thinking this is a way to enact revenge on hetero couples. “You want to be married forever? Well we’ll make you sure you are!”

Like >99% of butt pirates only want to be with THE SAME GUY forever. Riiiiight. That’s what gays are known for. Monogamy.

Yep.

What I just said in post #35.

Tax and penalize divorce. That is a time tested way to decrease anything.

Don’t think the press is into “sensationalism”...then why are the rantings of one nut in California considered “a move afoot”?
