Remember how the Democrats reacted when the Bush Administration started replacing U.S. Attorneys? At least they were actually political appointees employed at the will and whim of the President.

Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purify the federal bureaucracy.

You can read the OPM memo here. http://www.chcoc.gov/Transmittals/TransmittalDetails.aspx?TransmittalId=2588

It is a typical Washington process that many political appointees are able to take jobs within the civil service once their political appointment expires — usually at the conclusion of one administration. What often happens as well is Congressional staffers, before an election or shortly thereafter, will move over to the Executive Branch placed into the civil service, in effect, by appointment.

So, for example, when George Bush became President in 2001, a number of Clinton political appointees became civil service employees. As a result, they became subject to civil service hiring and firing rules, which meant they could no longer be replaced simply for having been a Democratic appointee.

Barack Obama is changing that. He intends to purge all Republicans from the federal bureaucracy retroactive to five years ago.

Under his new rules, made retroactive for five years, the Office of Personnel Management will examine civil service employees who got their start as political appointees in the Bush administration and terminate those employees. The order is retroactive to 2004, that moment when a number of Republican congressional staffers and others sought to embed into the second Bush administration right after the election.

According to John Berry, the Director of OPM:

Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decisionmaking authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence.

The memorandum goes on to apply this change to civil servants who were political appointees in the last five years, in effect freezing these employees out of other positions, denying them promotions, and forcing them out of their jobs.

No one is allowed to stand in the way of Barack Obama’s agenda, including his own bureaucracy. This is what happens in third world kleptocracies and totalitarian regimes.

This is scary stuff.

Just for perspective: remember the Democrats threatened to throw Bush administration people in jail for firing United States Attorneys who happened to be Democrats. In that case, it was clear as crystal that U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and he can fire them whenever he wants. In this case, these people are now civil service employees who do not serve at the pleasure of the President and cannot be fired just because they are Republicans. in fact, the law is very clear on that point.

I read the memo. Dont see anything about people currently in civil service being removed from their jobs.

Best I can determine, this applies only if an agency wants to convert a political appointee to civil service in the future.

If one looks at history, one will find that the pruge cycle starts after the frs 1 to 2 years, as the new totalitarian Junta gets its upper echelons in order.

And Obama has now reached critical bureaucratic mass with the Czars he has appointed. Their role is a purger role. That is why they are there.

And the laws or constitution will not matter. Obama has the unions on his side, and they will collect dossiers on the private lives of the expendable. So watch for enforced early retirement, firings for cause ( political correctness), sex scandals and if all else fails, accidental deaths.

The Obama Junta at work. And all predicted by conservatives prior to Nov. 2008.

Who will Ameica vote for now?

Nothing would surprize me......the bomb and his minions were known to us in the 60’s....we laughted at them for there inability to work within the system, and the hippies hated them for the violence they did and how they turned a world of peace and love into something vile......but we never thought they’d be elected and allowed to infiltrate our government....

The Ft. Hood cat should have started in the house and moved to the senate, but the sad thing is that we have have a beautiful country, and the bombists don’t understand what it means to have a goal and to lead the world and mankind to be better than it has been

They fail to see that America, warts and all, is a testiment to man’s greatest values, and mankinds greatest alturistic dreams.

They were nuts in the 60’s and they are still nuts....

That’s okay...he’s FUBO Christmas, too
F’n Muzzie

The White House will celebrate “Winter Holiday” this year, not Christmas. I hope the people in this country wake up soon. Thought you might be interested in this information from the White House. This isn’t a rumor; this is a fact.

We have a friend at church who is a talented artist. For several years she, among many others, has painted ornaments to be hung on the various White House Christmas trees. The White House sends out an invitation to send an ornament and informs the artists of the theme for the year.

She got her letter from the WH recently. It said that they would not be called Christmas trees this year. They will be called Holiday trees. And, to please not send any ornaments painted with a religious theme..

She was very upset at this development and sent back a reply telling them that she painted the ornaments for Christmas trees and would not be sending any for a display that left Christ out of Christmas.

Just thought you should know what the new residents in the White House plan for the future of America . If you missed his statement that “we do not consider ourselves a Christian Nation” this should confirm that he plans to take us away from our religious foundation as quickly as possible.

It is true.....check out the link & look at the top right corner.....it even says “formerly WhiteHouseChristmas.Com”

I remember how upset the MSM was - they were jumping on President Bush with both feet - - now? Crickets.

I was not aware anyone could be fired from a government job based on his/her political affiliation. This is morally unjustified and probably illegal as well.

Every day it under the DemocRATS this country seems to descend further into a Socialist nightmare. I am just waiting for the DemocRATS to find a reason to cancel the elections in 2010 and for Obama to declare Marshall law on the pretext of stabilizing the country.
