Women are undergoing surgery to create perfect genitalia amid a "shocking" lack of information on the potential risks of the procedure, a report says.
Research published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology also questions the very notion of aesthetically pleasing genitals.
Operations to improve the appearance of the sex organs for both psychological and physical reasons are on the rise.
But surgeons said the report overplayed the risks of an established procedure.
Researchers from University College London reviewed all the existing studies on cosmetic labial surgery - which generally involves reducing the amount of tissue that protrudes from the lips which cover the vagina. They found there had been little work to document any longer-term side effects.
Labioplasty, as it is known, costs about £3,000 privately and is offered for a variety of reasons: some women complain that wearing tight clothes or riding a bike is uncomfortable, while others say they are embarrassed in front of a sexual partner.

Uh, LOL! You’re right.
Did you miss me? I have been without an Internet connection since last Thursday morning. We’re in the middle of a move, and I’m working through my list of things to look up online.
But I stopped long enough to stalk you, of course.
Sheets up, lights down, the only thing you can see is the image on the culposcope, it’s a little like still life photography.
If you want ick factor, well that’s another thread.
“I wonder if obamacare will cover this procedure.”
And they could get it in conjunction with the abortion that you and I will undoubtedly pay for...to save us money, of course...

Sob sob sob... boo hooo boo hoooo ... she don na wike me anymow....
I have a friend who is an actress (been in quite a few movies) who had her lips (vagina) worked on by a plastic surgeon in the late 90’s. She showed it to me and I couldn’t tell any difference. Does that make me a racist?
Loose lips seek snips.
OK, everyone ... it is absolutely, completely insane for there to be any major argument about this. EVERY person has “aesthetically pleasing genitals” to somebody, though for some observers that might be bigger or smaller, thicker or thinner, sparse or well-endowed, and female or male(not much interest to me personally). I appreciate the appearance of all of God’s children and believe they are all perfect... not only in their genitals, but in their limbs, their face, their skin and all of their selves.
However, I CAN appreciate that for some very-well endowed labia women that might be pretty darned uncomfortable (as well as with those who are very well endowed in the boob department) and that for a COMFORT reason a “reduction” might be desireable... but if I were a counselor, I would always say “God doesn’t make mistakes” - think well about where you’re leaping before you leap.
By the way, for those who were joking earlier about internet porn here is a true story: I have been on the internet since about 1992 (gopher, ftp, mosaic, Aviation Digest, ...) I was blissfully ignorant about internet porn until my then wife asked me to look at the internet for information about Persian Cats- she wanted a kitten. I did searches: Google/ Dogpile/ Yahoo “Persian Kitty”, “Persian Cat” and other terms and was startled to come up with “premier adult sites” ... Of course as any red blooded American (at least, male) would do, presented with such an opportunity, I looked at that hit. persiankitty has nothing to do with cats, though it does have something to do with pussies!
By the way, I never told my wife what her request led me to discover...
I am not the one asking for pictures to be posted. And context is everything.
I'd really like you if you came over and helped us unpack.
And what you consider humor isn’t.
