More jihadist ties to Hasan ?

As if a pen-pal relationship with a suspected 9/11 plotter wasn’t bad enough, ABC News now reports that the suspected shooter in the Fort Hood massacre may have had other ties to jihadists. Those dots should have been connected before 14 people died in a hail of gunfire:

A senior government official tells ABC News that investigators have found that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan had “more unexplained connections to people being tracked by the FBI” than just radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki. The official declined to name the individuals but Congressional sources said their names and countries of origin were likely to emerge soon.

Questions already surround Major Hasan’s contact with Awlaki, a radical cleric based in Yemen whom authorities consider a recruiter for al Qaeda. U.S. officials now confirm Hasan sent as many as 20 e-mails to Awlaki. Authorities intercepted the e-mails but later deemed them innocent or protected by the first amendment.

The Obama administration put a stop to the investigation of Hasan and continues to bash this country. Obama clearly shares Hasan’s hatred of America.

One small problem with this, Military Officers with a security clearance do not have the same First Amendment rights as a normal citizen. CDI and company really have fallen down on the job since the Russians packed it in.

Dots? It's more like a freaking clearly marked road leading to a terrorist ready to snap any time, and no one did anything to stop him.  The FBI knew about this, the military knew about him and they couldn't (or didn't want to) connect the “dots.” Whether they were bound by politic correctness, their orders, or whatever, the result of their ineptness has let to the massacre at Fort Hood.

The question is how reluctant will we be as a culture to connect dots in the future, and how many more innocents will fall victim of such negligent behavior by those who don't want to do anything to protect those who they swear to protect?
