Shouldn't an army base be the last place where a terrorist should be able to shoot at people uninterrupted for 10 minutes? After all, an army base is filled with soldiers who carry guns, right? Unfortunately, that is not the case. Beginning in March 1993, under the Clinton administration, the army forbids military personnel from carrying their own personal firearms and mandates that "a credible and specific threat against [Department of the Army] personnel [exist] in that region" before military personnel "may be authorized to carry firearms for personal protection." Indeed, most military bases have relatively few military police as they are in heavy demand to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The unarmed soldiers could do little more than cower as Major Nidal Malik Hasan stood on a desk and shot down into the cubicles in which his victims were trapped. Some behaved heroically, such as private first class Marquest Smith who repeatedly risked his life removing five soldiers and a civilian from the carnage. But, being unarmed, these soldiers were unable to stop Hasan's attack.
The wife of one of the soldiers shot at Ft. Hood understood this all too well. . . . .

Exactly! We need to push the GOP and NRA-ILA to fight for CCW’s on all military bases. Our troops are sitting ducks with thiese islamo sleepers.
This scum knew our soldiers were unarmed.
I think it is absolutely crazy, in this day and age, that our millitary are unarmed in their bases.
Times are different now. The enemy can be hidden among them, as recently shown.
Don’t you think it makes sense to have a different weapons policy for a military base than for a Junior High School?
I believe that the thought is covered by the Second Amendment as it was writen and that all persons, military or not, provided they are citizens in good standing, should be allowed to carry. Open or concealed.
B Cool,
CCW - all places, all the time!
He would have been cut down if the soldiers were carrying.
it’s an absolute bullsh*t policy. Troops cannot even wear earphones while jogging on our post out of concern for “safety”.
It is against policy to conceal carry private weapons when in military uniform. It’s a skewed liability policy that endangers it’s own personnel when they leave the “safety” of the base and head home. Yet we are required to attend yearly Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism Training to make sure we are aware of how to recognize threats (before they kill us because we are unarmed).
Interesting, Clinton didnt want to get his rear-end shot off. The same way he placed restriction on speech fearing someone would shot their mouth off. Remember, UCMJ Article 88, DOD Directives which were used to prevent speech when some military personnel sent emails containing information/material deemed offensive about Clinton and Monica Lewinsky Seems liberals dont like speech being free when theyre in power.
jihadists kill people.
Cheers!
Right to carry is right to carry a right that fades with each passing day.
it just hurts the brain
ABOUT DARN TIME!
They didn't even have a taser or pepper spray. How lame can you get.
What military bases need to be is MISLIM Free Zones!
Yes, from all I’ve heard the disarming began many years before 1993. Was it under Carter?

it seems they already are
