During his appearance at the Senate Democrats' weekly lunch Tuesday, former President Bill Clinton told members of his party not to back down when they're winning the health care debate.
A source close to Clinton said the former president had a simple message for Democrats: Make sure to pass something.
"The point I want to make is, just pass the bill, even if it's not exactly what you want," Clinton said, according to the source. "When you try and fail, the other guys write history."
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said Clinton described the ongoing tea party protests against the Democratic agenda as a sign his party was making progress.
Whitehouse quoted Clinton arguing: "The reason the teabaggers are so inflamed is because we are winning." Speaking with reporters outside the event, Clinton framed his case for health care in economic terms: "This is an economic imperative."
"I believe people come to Congress, to places like this, to solve problems," he said, adding that health care reform "strengthens the fabric of the existing health insurance policies."

Oh yeah, economic imperative, how about economic nightmare.
As for teabaggers,I can think of a free names to call this slimy SOB.
President humidor, classy as always.
Bubba, you are irrelevant, although I guess you’re feeling fiesty with the wifey-poo out of town .....
Anything Clinton sickens me.
“The reason the teabaggers are so inflamed is because we are winning.”
...wrong FU%$NUT! It’s because we will all lose EXCEPT for a chosen few like you and the vermin you run with!! POS Socialist! If they want to see some “teabagging”, wait until this bill gets passed. DC will have a legitimate 2-3 million that day.
Yeah, Bill, how’d that healthcare fight work out for you?.............
And now lets think along with Clinton:
Hey guys, pass something anything so that we get slaughtered in next year’s election and my wife can resign from the administration and run against Obama in the primary next election. Call me a racist will they, I’ll show them who the first black president was!!!!
The word teabag does not appear in the Starr report.
Quote: “Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said Clinton described the ongoing tea party protests against the Democratic agenda as a sign his party was making progress.”
Yep, Virginia and New Jersey say hello. That sure is progress.
Leave it to another classless individual to join President Obortion and other sleazy Democrats in using lewd terminology in referring to those who would stand in the way of their lust for tyranny.
I like it. No matter if its not right. This is about winning! Could he be any dumber? Have less ethics? This attitude is what prevails today. Thats why we need them all voted out and replaced with hundreds of Palins.
Bubba probably knows a thing or two about teabagging.
Democrats know that socialized medicine, regardless of how it destroys the system, will lock in the vote of the American parasite class. Between that constituency and the illegal alien vote, this will be a one party country.
Same as it was when they used the word "chickenhawk" (a term for a grown man chasing young boys) to slur those who supported the war against Saddam.
Guess what Bubba? Those dems are going to BE history in 2010 and 2012.
In a moment of candor, disgraced former president Clinton admits that the left is indifferent to the fate of the country or the results of disastrous legislation they pass - they just want to be able to say “I won”
LOL—the most inflamed teabagger of all is Monica Lewinsky!!
And you will witness the death spiral of the welfare state.
There isn’t enough ‘production’ in the economy to support another massive government entitlement.
What class. How Presidential....."President Crude" speaks.
