Dede's Revenge: 'We're Going to Work Against' Palin and Others

November 10, 2009 10:50 AM

Klein_3ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Just when you thought you wouldn't have to spell "Dede Scozzafava" anymore, the Republican nominee in that upstate New York special election is back -- lashing out at Sarah Palin and others who worked against her bid.

In a revealing interview with The Washington Post, Scozzafava, a member of the New York State Assembly who lost her leadership post in the wake of her election loss, talks about what it's like to see her name turned into a verb (Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Fla., is the next candidate in danger of getting "Scozzafaved.")

She attacks Palin, R-Alaska, for endorsing the Conservative Party candidate, Doug Hoffman, even though Hoffman doesn't even live in New York's 23rd congressional district.

"How can Sarah Palin come out and endorse someone who can't answer some basic questions," Scozzafava tells the Post. "Do these people even know who they are endorsing?"

She was being blatantly opportunistic in trying to gain power in whichever way she thought was the most direct line.

Precisely right -- that bitter look on her face as she announced her withdrawal was due to the fact that she knew full well her ability to fake out, garner a seat in the House was over.

Is Dede Scozzafava married? My husband wondered if she might be gay. The reason this matters is because gay Republican politicians seem to be torn about their loyalties, like Lindsey Graham and Shays, that former Conn politician.

I love that photo of Sarah as she was saying:

"But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot

BTW, Chris Shays also married, children ... he has never been tagged as being homosexual, as far as I’m aware.

She’s acting like a spoiled child who was refused a piece of candy.

I don’t have much faith that Steele or anyone in the National GOP will kick her out of the party. We can hope the NY GOP does the job.

If nothing else she and her best friend should be kicked out of the party; if they are not kicked out they should not have the ability to have a say on who is placed on the ballot.

“Someone tell me again how Scuzzy could EVER have been considered a “Republican”.”

Here in upstate New York, “Republican” is another word for “moderate Democrat”. There are some real Republicans left, but they prefer to be called “Conservative”, “Independent” or “Libertarian”.

So the legend of the great conservative NY-23 was pure mythology, then?

The election results certainly suggest as much.

"How can Sarah Palin come out and endorse someone who can't answer some basic questions," Scozzafava tells the Post.

But you, DeDe, who can answer all the questions, have all the WRONG answers.

We know the GOP will not stop supporting RINO candidates and giving them prominent positions within the party. Right now conservatives are being shut out in most areas even though the GOP’s base makes up 40% of the party and is conservative.

The only way we will go back to a two party system and get rid of RINO influence in the party is if conservatives start holding positions in their local/state chapters.

Florida is a blueprint for what happens when the local chapters refuse to back a RINO.

Charlie Crist is being backed by the state GOP. In fact when Marco Rubio announced he was challenging Crist the state GOP tried to keep him from getting on the ballot. Local parties rebelled and vetoed the States plans. Rubio was accepted and now, in most polls, he’s leading Crist.

Crist would have run unopposed with full backing of the State/Local party if conservatives had not taken leadership positions with local precincts.

We can not depend on the national party to change their love affair with RINO’s but that does not mean all is lost. If we want to take our country and party back, conservatives must start working at the local and state level to counter the national leadership.

Gee, what a stable person and dependable Republican.
Who could doubt that she would have voted against the health care bill?
