Abortion amendment 'throws women under bus'

Women's rights advocates are angry after an amendment restricting abortion access and funding was added to the health care reform bill, which the House of Representatives passed on Saturday.

"We had the most pro-choice candidate in decades, but we don't have the most pro-choice president," said Terry O'Neill, president of the half-million-strong National Organisation of Women.

"The Stupak-Pitts amendment is a giant leap in the direction of making abortion completely inaccessible to all of us," O'Neill said.

Sixty-four Democrats joined 176 Republicans to vote for the amendment, named after co-authors Representative Bart Stupak, a Democrat, and Republican lawmaker Joseph Pitts.

"They said they wouldn't have been able to get health care reform passed without this amendment," said O'Neill.

I wonder if these woman who advocate the right to abortion are even fertile.

Let them stew as we continue to educate young women on Pro Life issues.

The Democratic Party threw the feminists under the bus!

Really?

I am very hetrosexual but I chose to not have kids or marry.

I do have one adult son and love him dearly, he was unplanned.

But I chose a life of cold showers after that.

I dont hate babies, not gay and 100% pro Life.

Ten to one O’Neill breaks down into tears when she sees video of some poor seal getting clubbed or a polar bear stranded on an tiny iceberg, yet the killing of unborn babies is something to be proud of.

These people are mentally ill.

The bill does NOT ban abortion. It only reaffirms current federal law that prohibits federal funding for abortion. No radical change here.

Abortionist and Planned Parenthood are NOT pro-woman.

IF they truly were, they would NOT cover up incidents of rape, child molestation, and statutory rape for easy $$$ and no police investigations.

If they TRULY were trying to keep women from getting pregnant AND wanted to keep abortion “rare”, they would be working to see that women knew and understood how to use birth control. Whoopi Goldberg claims to be a brain when she anchors The Shrew on ABCDisney but she got “accidently” pregnant at least 6 times. Think she’d wise up eventually.

It only reaffirms current federal law that prohibits federal funding for abortion.

Which itself is a joke. Planned Parenthood gets tons of money from taxpayers and yet they continue to kill children with it.

If the brain dead republicans had voted against the amendment, there would not bee a bill at all. Fools!!!

Yes, it could have gone that way, but they were probably thinking the Amendment was a 'poison pill' and that the pro-Abortionists would unite against it.

They didn't then, but they are now.

If the Amendment is stripped from the final bill, it will never pass.

If it isn't, it won't pass.

Does Islam promote abortions?

It has no qualms about murdering pregnant women, as the murderer did at Ft. Hood.

Bingo. Women are certainly not being thrown under the bus. Not with this amendment anyway. This abortion of a bill throws us all under the bus.

They have this strange ideology that says Fearless Feminists are intelligent, capable, strong, "I-am-Woman-hear-me-roar," and can handle anything: the business world, competitive sports, the military: they can handle anything, from Quantum Physics to the Presidency, but they can't handle a pregnancy...

A pregnancy would just ruin their lives....And a live baby...?

"NOW has only 500,000 members?!"

They claim 500,000. I suspect the real numbers are considerably less than 50,000 actual paid members.

Feminists hate men.

Fathers are men.

Babies are the children of fathers.

Thus, feminists hate babies.

Their psychotic trail is very clear.

The thing that bothers me about all the hot button issues is that the real problems with this bill will get lost in emotional debate and no-one will really talk about the massive power and purse strings grab being attempted by the Democrats, surely a losing proposition come next November. I mean who is going to voluntarily vote for people who grab all your money and try to take over your medical records and care?! They want to frame the debate on the abortion issue? I say turn the number crunchers and investigative reporters loose on them!!
