Confessions of an ObamaCare Backer
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11/10/2009 | staff

The typical argument for ObamaCare is that it will offer better medical care for everyone and cost less to do it, but occasionally a supporter lets the mask slip and reveals the real political motivation. So let's give credit to John Cassidy, part of the left-wing stable at the New Yorker, who wrote last week on its Web site that "it's important to be clear about what the reform amounts to."

Snip

No wonder many Americans are upset. They know they are being lied to about ObamaCare, and they know they are going to be stuck with the bill.

Mr. Cassidy concludes, "Putting on my amateur historian's cap, I might even claim that some subterfuge is historically necessary to get great reforms enacted."

"And the serpent said unto the woman, 'Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods . . . .'"

I always take a peek at some of the left-leaning” web sites just to see their take on things. They have fallen for this hook, line and sinker. What seems to be formost in their minds is winning, however, I’m not so sure they realize “what” they are actually winning. Most of the comments elaborate about the evil right, and not the merits of the plan they are blindly supporting. I suppose because it has so little merit. How will they feel when they all realize that they have been set up? I wonder.

Great reform that you mentioned...

In the minds of these elitists, it is necessary to lie to the public because they are not smart enough to see the superiority of the "know better" class's ideas, and that's why they oppose them.

It will be our children and grandchildren that will be stuck with the bill and slaves in the land of the free. My own representative voted for passage of the bill, yelling about the insurance companies not providing health care for his constituents. How can they say these things with a straight face?

I can barely contain my rage anymore at the ruling class especially when I see my innocent grandchildren playing and having fun while their country slips away.

The reason that, as he describes it, some subterfuge is necessary to get reforms enacted, is that they are not reforms, and anyone with at least 2 sparking brain cells to work together can figure it out.

Unfortunately, the average number of sparking brain cells for the American voter seems to be somewhat less than that.

from the article:

Mr. Cassidy is more honest than the politicians whose dishonesty he supports. “The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment,” he writes. “Let’s not pretend that it isn’t a big deal, or that it will be self-financing, or that it will work out exactly as planned. It won’t. What is really unfolding, I suspect, is the scenario that many conservatives feared. The Obama Administration . . . is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind.”

Why are they doing it? Because, according to Mr. Cassidy, ObamaCare serves the twin goals of “making the United States a more equitable country” and furthering the Democrats’ “political calculus.” In other words, the purpose is to further redistribute income by putting health care further under government control, and in the process making the middle class more dependent on government. As the party of government, Democrats will benefit over the long run.

This explains why Nancy Pelosi is willing to risk the seats of so many Blue Dog Democrats by forcing such an unpopular bill through Congress on a narrow, partisan vote: You have to break a few eggs to make a permanent welfare state

"The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment,"

Cassidy writes as if Dhims are altruistic at some great cost to themselves. The cost to be borne is on the American taxpayer, his children and grand children, who in the economy headed our way over the next generation has no chance of paying back this debt burden. Either our children will have to surrender our nation's assets to China and the Arabs wholesale, or we'll have to break free of this downward spiral.

In the two-birds-with-one-stone theory, I say we'll have to dispossess the Islamic fundamentalists of their lives and possessions, lest we simply surrender to their relentlessly-attacking, burgeoning population WMD in our midsts.

With PC, "let's not jump to conclusions" Islamic in sheep's clothing Hussein at the helm, and before we totally acquiesce to the hobbling debt the democrats will have handed us within a few short years, we will pay a terrible price through Islamic attacks that basically and finally cause us to recognize "It's us or them that survive, not both."

I don't doubt that by that time, it will have become clear that Soetero has given the Islamics nuclear weapons to keep "out-of-control, conservative hawks" (sic) in America in check.

For Barry's part, I think he'll use his foreign policy seat quietly to hand over huge chunks of the US to the Chinese and Saudis, probably as soon as the 2010 election results show that he's almost certain to be impeached.

That is absolutely insane.....quiet acceptance of tyranny is not in this Texian's blood nor that of all patriots..... Texas politicians better damn well refuse to participate & fund this theft of liberty.....we the people, will take a stand.
