Actually, he never says some. Im adding that to give him the benefit of the doubt. Raw Storys transcript of the exchange:
STEELE: Education and the economy. Education and jobs. Education and small business.
MARTIN: But your candidates got to talk to them. One of the criticisms Ive always had is Republicans white Republicans have been scared of black folks.
STEELE: Youre absolutely right. I mean Ive been in the room and theyve been scared of me. Im like, Im on your side and so I can imagine going out there and talking to someone like you, you know, [you're like,] Ill listen. And theyre like Well. Let me tell you. You saw in Christie and you saw in McDonnell a door open because they went in and engaged. McDonnell was very deliberate about spending

Ping.
Why is this man RNC Chairman?
This white Republ... scratch that... Conservative is scared of your RINOism and lack of spine Mr Steele.
Scared of that friggin WUSS?
Yeah because most of them are pretty sure you are a RINO Mr Steele.
He is not liked by me because he is a RINO (the un-conservative).
yes, the rino thing scares us
Yep!
I think the more correct word is disgusted.
I think the more correct word is disgusted.
Time to go STeele. Get out along with all the other idjit RINOs. The Republican party is now no place for "progressives."
Black is really, truly. the least of what is frightening about Michael Steele. He and his ideological compatriots are children at war....not intellectually or physically mature enough to get done what needs to be done. The last such “mature” Pubbie was Tom Delay.
Drop the Education part Mr RINO and put in spending, taxes and Energy Independence in their place and you might be on to something
But then you would have to actually mean it, not just say it.
‘theyve been scared of me. Im like, Im on your side’
Aaaaahh, so THAT’S what’s really meant. They’re gunshy of blacks because they know they’re THE most monolithic “group” voting bloc on the planet. Lord knows I’m scared to death to talk to blacks about politics, because 90% chance they’ll be communists-in-the-closet who’ll jump down your throat as “racist” for being Republican.
I have to clearly see a black person is outwardly conservative to talk this way. Happened this past year when I went to pick up KFC food and an older black couple was there - in T-shirts saying they want our Repub ex-gov back. Well I just had to start talking to them. Without it I’d never make a remark near politics.
So yes, we’re scared, but not the way this is made out to be. We’re cowards.
But with Steele, he scares me because he’s typical MD GOP - half-baked GOP.
Because he's black. That's the only "qualification" I can see this moron having for the position.
Steele and the RNC should be afraid of CONSERVATIVES. I just got a call from the RNC wanting me to renew my membership. He got an earful about how I do not support a party that supports candidates that are not conservative. I now send my political money to individual candidates that are proven CONSERVATIVES. Told him I’m not holding my nose and voting for guys like McCain anymore.
Because Michael, there is such a thing as a Black Rino
