The lightly-built police heroine who is credited with halting the Fort Hood massacre almost died at the scene after losing half the blood in her body.
Mother of one Sergeant Kimberley Munley confronted gunman Nidal Malik Hasan and, despite being wounded in both legs, brought him down with four shots.
One of the shots cut an artery in her leg, leaving blood pumping out but she still managed to keep firing before collapsing.
Heroine: Kim Munley, a civilian police officer, is the woman who brought Hasan down by shooting him four times before he could slaughter more people.
Medic Francisco Delaserna applied a tourniquet to Sgt Munley as she drifted in and out of consciousness because of blood loss.
'I cut her trousers oopen, tied a tourniquet around her thigh and stopped the bleeding. But she had already lost a lot of blood,' he said.

God bless this fine woman!
As an aside, is it just me or do you notice that more and more we can get better news reporting over seas than with our own MSM?
That may have been an early account, before officials started putting out details. Many media outlets have quoted Ft. Hood commander Lt. Ge. Bob Cob as saying that Munley fired all 4 of the shots that hit Hasan. Not clear if the Todd didn’t actually fire at all, or if he just didn’t actually hit Hasan.

If Todd didn’t hit the target, he’s probably man enough not to want equal billing with his female partner who did.
In the scumbag nations that this cowardly murderer considers models of social control and religious truth, this woman would have been the victim of an “honor killing” for daring to become a police officer.
The irony is beautiful.
I noticed from the link that once again it is a UK source that we have to get the news we want to see from the media within our own borders.
These “civilian” police are employed by the Department of the Army.
It’s true. The MSM in the USA (except for Fox) has a dog in the domestic political fight that the Brits don’t. What you don’t report says as much as what you do.
Crouching for cover these soldiers try to understand what is going on during the shooting. The soldier in the centre can be seen talking on his mobile phone
So who are those guys in the last pic in post #1 out in the open in that field??
“The women dont belong in combat crowd has been rather quiet for the past couple of days . . .”
SNORT!
Women don't belong in combat. Period.
That it no way takes away from the courage shown by this woman.
Real men should be protecting women, not putting them in positions of danger. The real men on that base should have been armed as a matter of course - all of them.
These nutcases running around know that most people are no longer carrying. That's a significant problem that needs to be corrected.
Because, unless the Army is different than the Air Force (and I don't think it is) nobody but Security Forces is allowed to carry firearms on base, unless they are in a pretty tightly controlled training situation...i.e., they would have been nowhere near this mess.
I got flamed big time yesterday for pointing out how much higher the death toll was at Ft. Hood than in the 1998 high school cafeteria shooting by Kip Kinkel (two killed), who was stopped by several (obviously unarmed) high school boys. There were an estimated 300-400 students in the cafeteria when Kinkel burst in and started shooting. And actually only one fatality was in the cafeteria — the other was immediately prior, as Kinkel shot somebody in the parking lot as he was going into the cafeteria.
I’m not trying to pin blame on the soldiers at Ft. Hood, but the length of time this went on without the shooter being stopped is worrisome (at least 3 minutes before Munley and Todd arrived, and according to some accounts as long as 10 minutes before Hasan was actually taken down by the armed police officer) raises serious questions about the training they’ve received. These aren’t a bunch of random high school kids; they’re trained soldiers, about to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan from this “soldier Readiness Center”. Facing a 300 to 1 ratio, Hasan really should have been neutralized a lot faster.
Not that it matters though. Whether she was alone or with her partner, she laid her life on the line and helped stop the terrorist.
No, the liberal propaganda wars were being borne out even then by our alphabet networks.
In hindsight, somebody should obviously have been assigned to “pack.” It sure doesn’t look like Hasan had any trouble bringing his guns in.
Hasan only shot people because he never accepted Barack H. Obama as his personal savior. (mmm, mmm, mmm) /sarc>
Prayers for the families. Waterboard Hasan.
I tend to agree with you.
Indeed. The “no guns” rule (except while training with them) doesn’t make a whole lot more sense on a military base than on the streets of Washington DC. Those who weren’t going to shoot anybody anyway follow it scrupulously, and the homicidal criminals not only blithely ignore the rule, but also take advantage of it.
