F'in 'RAT BASTARDS!

Did you notice all the applause up in the visitors' gallery as well when the bill was passed?! Unbelievable.

Final vote: 220 yea to 215 nay.

One idiot "Republican" voted FOR PelosiCare HR 3962. Joseph Cao (sp?) Republican, Lousiana voted FOR the bill. (WHY???)

39 Democrats voted AGAINST PelosiCare.

Well, at least the vote is is VERY close.

God help us all...

Joseph Cao (sp?) Republican, Lousiana voted FOR the bill. (WHY???)

He (Vietnamese heritage) was among last two Republicans to vote. It already had 218 votes when he voted. Since he took Jefferson's place in Louisiana, in a fairly heavily minority district, he probably voted Yea just to be able to say he did back home. I doubt he would have voted Yea if the bill had not already passed.

Some Dim Nays were also probably ass covering votes for Blue Dogs once the Dims knew they had the required 218. There's always some of that on any vote.

Nutmeg, with all due respect, you don't get it. It was preordained which Democrats would "get" to vote against this---those in the absolute most electoral danger and in the reddest districts. The real negotiating only involved 5-10 votes, half of whom had to fall on their swords and will be AMPLY rewarded.

This wasn't close and never was. It was always only about figuring out who would be the sacrificial lambs and including enough crap language that the public wouldn't get "too" riled so that they can put it all back in during the conference.

I have to say, I admire the Dems in their strategy and discipline. I wish we could play hardball that way when we're in the majority. Now, I do congratulate Boehner and the rest---I think the GOP was near perfect (Cao the only defection, but still wouldn't have mattered) and did all they could do to stop this. But you can't lose elections. Elections have consequences.
