George W. Bush Visits Fort Hood, Wounded Soldiers (Obama visits Camp David)

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) ― Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

W and Laura are what we used to call “well bred.” You either have class, or you don’t. It has nothing to do with money or status, but everything to do with motive, manners, and morals. It’s just about impossible to fake, and it’s hard to acquire later in life.

Long Form Surfaces, Obama arrested,

The Long form aside, he should be arrested, or at least be sent packing. His daddy wasn't a citizen, so he'd not a natural born citizen and thus is ineligible to the office of President. Unfortunately, Joe Biden is eligible, and *technically*/Constitutionally, his election, no matter how he was put on the ticket, is a legally separate matter. Thus he would either become President, or would "act as President" depending on which amendment's process is to be followed upon removal of a ineligible usurper.

The long form is needed to prove who his father really was. Sooo, maybe a nice SEAL or SF "sneak and peek" into the vault at the Vital Statistics office in Hawaii, followed by Detention in the Ft. Hood Brig.

I love the way that former President Bush and First Lady Laura have always honored the men and women in U. S. Armed services -- never making things, like this visit, about themselves.

I must admitt that I take some perverse satisfaction in how difficult a time the Obamas have in doing things like visiting service men and women. It could never be a spontaneous visit.

I can just imagine a wounded soldier during a hospital photo-op saying "show us your birth certificate, Barry."

No... the whitehouse would have to manipulate the encounter to assure that only the right people are there.

The O can't do anything unless it's a photo-op, and clearly can't risk a public appearance with the great unwashed.

I don't remember where Gore was on 9/11...just very glad he wasn't President. I can't imagine him handling the crisis one-tenth as well as Bush did. He might have tried to exploit the tragedy the way that Clinton did with the Oklahoma City bombing.

The big loser from Gore's failure to steal the 2000 election was Saddam Hussein--he'd still be in charge of Iraq if Gore had been President on 9/11.

It makes you realize that the few nasty loudmouths do not really speak for this forum.

Most people here are GOOD people, and recognize the class, dignity and integrity shown daily by President Bush (and Laura).

It is like a breath of fresh air.

In the mean time, Obama is "relaxing" at Camp David.

I thought the same thing. I’ll bet anything Bush wanted to be there the night it happened, but thought it best to wait till after the sitting president made his trip. Typical of Bush to give Obama more credit than is deserved. He can’t conceive of a president who would be more invested in pushing his Marxist agenda than comforting our military.

Gore was in Canada on 9/11 and like he did for Clinton, W arranged a special flight to get him back to the US where Gore would scream "Bush BETRAYED his country!!!".
