On Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, the day after the Elections, in which the GOP took both State Houses in VA and NJ, 7 top elected Hardin County, TX officials held a joint news conference, and all 7 switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP.
Could this be the beginning of a "movement" ?

Somebody tell Sean Hannity that the Conservatives ARE ALREADY beginning to take back our country.

Wouldn’t it be something if all those blue dog dems came out and switched parties? How about we pray for that.

RINOs are not welcome. I think that they should have to vote and act like a Republican for at least 6 months, then they will be accepted into the party.

Does the GOP think that 7 guys in one county switching to GOP is gonna make those of us who are fed up with the party come back “home”? Simply calling yourself a Republican means next to nothing. Show us the “money”. We want to see conservative behavior by Republicans otherwise, i for one will be supporting only true Conservatives who are like Sarah Palin no matter what party they belong to.

This isn't necessarily a good thing. Given the perfidious nature of Democrats, I wouldn't be surprised if these seven were switching sides just to keep a real Republican from replacing them. Encumbants have a definite advantage, so once reelected, they will wait to see which side has the majority. If the Dems hold onto it, they will switch back.
NEVER trust a Democrat.

Vanity????????

In the comments to the article MJ Samuelson says the following:
“I think this is really telling, actually, about the state of the Democratic party nationally. Were talking about rural yellow dog Democrats, conservative as all get-out but whose families have been Democrats since Reconstruction. This is a really historic move in Hardin, Palo Pinto, and McCulloch counties. I think people forget, it wasnt very long ago that Texas was a Democrat state. It was thanks to John Tower and Ronald Reagan that the face of the Republican Party began to change in Texas, but for a long, long time, rural Dems held on to their identity because of history. You know it must be bad if theyre changing parties. And most of them are elected officials who, because of state law, are elected by partisan vote, but whose positions are not necessarily partisan in nature.
This is exciting news, and in my opinion it is more important for Texas Republicans and conservatives than what happened in New Jersey and Virginia.”

Nor have they noted that across Texas, more than 50 elected officials or candidates for local offices have decided to jump the political fence, switching from the Democratic Party to the Republican, the state Republican party says. (link via the Beaumont Enterprise).
Something doesn't seem right about this. Why now? Are they pulling a Dede?

Hmmmm. What do you make of this?

"NEVER trust a Democrat"
Amen...as I've said before, the (D) after their name stands for "deceipt".
There are a lot of "republicans" (little "r") who would climb a tree backwards to appease the democrat party...right Juan?
The old Reagan admonition, "Trust, but verify", should always apply when you vote...for either party. Check out the person, not the party. Republicanism/Conservatism is about the INDIVIDUAL...not the Party. Groupthink belongs to democrats, and unions...not Americans.
Also, those who jump ship after they see a leak are only doing it to keep from drowning...'nuff said.

I was hoping some of the blue dog Democrats would defect to the GOP. They have nothing in common with the RATS any more!

You are not familiar with Hardin County, Texas. It’s a very Conservative County. IIRC, Obama got about 20% of that County’s vote. The people have been voting Republican in National and State elections for decades but would vote Dem for local office. That’s only changing now.
I’m a sort of in-law with one of these guys and I can tell you that he’s as Conservative as I am and I consider myself in the top 10% of the most Conservative Freepers.
In East Texas, most local officials are Conservative whether they are D or R.
FWIW, the “Yellow Dog Democrat” tradition started after the excesses of “Reconstruction”.

You are pretty much right, but I'm sure anyone from Beaumont won't be changing anything. Beaumont probably went 90% for Obama. Now right outside Beaumont, you got your white flight Dems that may be changing their evil ways. You still have many union knuckle draggers that may be “lernin” that the Dems are the ones that want their guns, want them to be weed eaters (vegetarians), want to remove God from America, and wants fudgepackers ( stool pushers),to get married. ( I'm just typin this way so they will understand what I'm talkin about). I'm in Tyler county and they still vote for some Dems for local office. The Federal offices are pretty solid Republican, but the die hard Dems around here still run for lower office.

That’s pretty much the story in Lamar county also.

Not good news. We need to be sending the RINOs packing.
