Obama's Response to Fort Hood Shooting Under Scrutiny
Fox News ^ | 11-06-09

Critics say that the tone and brevity of Obama's remarks on Fort Hood 'did not appreciate the gravity of what he represents' while others say he had the right presidential instincts.

As the U.S. military and law enforcement were scrambling to save lives after a deadly shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas, President Obama opened his remarks Thursday with a two-minute "shout out" to audience members who attended the Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Interior Department.

Obama's initial comments on the shooting that killed 13 and wounded scores of others came at the conclusion of Thursday's conference, which was attended by leaders from several of the 564 federally recognized American Indian tribes.

"I planned to make some broader remarks," he told the crowd. "But as some of you might have heard there has been a tragic shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas."

The president's words on the deadly rampage came two minutes after he gave a "shout out" to an audience member and stressed the need to pass health care reform.

"I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow was around, and so I want to give a shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It’s good to see you," he said.

Is that not unbelievable? He knew what he was going to do and look at that evil grin on his face.

Yes he did. Premeditated murder.

” Beckel always reminds me of the guy who’s always ‘belly-up’ to the bar at the local country club...after he’s told his wife he’s going to play a ‘few holes’.

Speaking of playing holes.
In 2002 , Beckel cheated on his wife , in his home ,
when she was out of town with the kids , with a barely legal 21 yr old prostitute.
And Beckel was so stupid that he paid her with a personal check.
And was subsequently blackmailed by the aforementioned hooker.
He should crawl back under his rock .
With Barry.

Shep is losing it. I actually heard him say today (I was in my car, I would have loved to see the look on his co-anchor’s face) that there may possibly be loads of video tape of this incident. That surely there must’ve have been a lot of people videoing the graduation that was taking place at the time the gunman stormed the graduation ceremony!!! I was screaming at the radio - you stupid loser!!!! He was never at the graduation ceremony!!!!! He was at the Soldier Readiness Center! I was at a stop sign and an elderly lady I know was passing by staring at me, I probably should call her tomorrow.

Oh, I heard today that he’s supposed to visit injured soldiers at Walter Reed tomorrow, I think. Of course, this was already planned before the tragedy at Fort Hood, according to the W.H. Yeah, right!!!!!!

Yes, I think he went to Walter Reed today. Part of his lame attempt to pretend to bond with the military.

But if martyring himself has been a long-term goal of his, 1) he took an incredibly long, difficult, roundabout route to it, and...

The 9-11 crew took eight years to complete their plan as I recall.

2) he failed ...

He failed? Shooting 48 people killing 14 is failure?

...(and also missed the opportunity to score points for Allah at the much higher profile Walter Reed).

Did someone tell you jihadis are smart?

When people are losing their minds, they often turn to a more radical form of whatever general religious background they have, but they’ve still lost their minds. And even if they already subscribed to a radical brand of religion, they can still lose their minds as a separate step.

So, what you are saying is that normal jihadis have no mental problems.

...it appears to me that his motive was probably more to avoid getting sent to Iraq or Afghanistan where he might get killed, and less to take a martyr's shortcut to Paradise.

Yeah, that makes sense. He was afraid of getting killed overseas so he commits a suicide mission in Texas. Some logic you have there.

Oh great! Now we will have to fumigate the whole state. He should just stay away. We don’t want him here.

The 9-11 crew took eight years to complete their plan as I recall.

Hasan had at least 10 years, all INSIDE the US military -- 4 at the Uniformed Services medical school (which almost certainly involved some rotations at Walter Reed and other military facilities), and 6 years of residency and fellowship at Walter Reed.

He failed? Shooting 48 people killing 14 is failure?

Yes, he failed. He's not dead, he did not achieve martyrdom, he's in US military custody. 13? 14? I'm having trouble keeping up with the growing count. But slaughter on this scale is achieved on nearly a weekly basis in the Middle East, by young men with grade school educations. And virtully all of them manage to blast themselves off to "Paradise" in the process. If you seriously believe in this crap, that's a critically important part of the plan.

Did someone tell you jihadis are smart?

This one was. He has a bachelor's degree in biochemistry with honors from Virginia Tech, and a medical degree from the Uniformed Services medical school.

So, what you are saying is that normal jihadis have no mental problems.

No, in fact I said twice that religious radicalism and mental disorders can occur in the same person, in either order. Sanity is difficult thing to define, but if you define it as being capable of keeping yourself focused on your objectives, and pursuing them in way that is actually likely to achieve them, then yes, lots of jihadis are quite sane. The choice of objective is another matter, though it doesn't take nearly as much disordered thinking to choose this objective when you've grown up totally immersed in it, in a country where it's closely intertwined with the dominant belief system, and where your parents sent you to a madrassah where you were brainwashed from a tender age to believe this is all real and makes sense, than for someone who grew up in Virginia with prosperous restaurant managers for parents and attended American public schools K-12 and then Virginia Tech.

One will see more than just a few of these at Arlington:

Something tells me Sergeant Taha wouldn't think much of a "Commander and Chief" that doesn't know the difference between the Medal of Honor and the Congressional Gold Medal. It's like the Pope confusing a loaf of Wonder Bread with the Host.

There really is no excuse for this pinhead. A guy yells, “Allah ahkbar,” and shoots forty people, kills a dozen of them, on a US Army base, in a hospital, and the president is busy giving shout - outs on national tv. Then he can’t say what motivated the attack. I haven’t been this embarrassed since 1979.

Refer to my new signature.

No, in fact I said twice that religious radicalism and mental disorders can occur in the same person, in either order.

So you do make a distinction between mental disorders and suicidal jihadis. Obviously you don't think normal jihadis have any mental problem.
