In a fast-breaking development comes word that agents of the Attorneys General office in Louisiana have raided ACORNs offices in New Orleans. ACORNs New Orleans was, for decades, the headquarters of the national community organizing association. News of the raid comes from Marcel Reid and her colleagues at ACORN 8, an association of former ACORN leaders and board members. Many of the individuals involved with ACORN 8 were fired from ACORN for demanding a forensic audit following an embezzlement scandal involving Dale Rathke, brother of ACORN co-founder Wade Rathke.
Check back her for more details, as well as a statement from ACORN 8 head Marcel Reid.

The shredders are no longer functioning due to the vast amount of documents that needed to be shred.

I get your point. They are going after telltale signs on the hard drives that could prove obstruction of justice. I hope this AG is for real. If he brought a good case against ACORN the whole rotten outfit could unravel and Louisiana's reputation would improve.

From the article:
Investigators in khaki pants and polo shirts loaded several dozen computers and other electronic items into an SUV.

Though I personnaly think clown suits and scuba gear would have been more appropriate attire considering the target, I'm encouraged that this investigation is taking place.

Little known to most people, you can never completely erase your hard drive, only if you reformat, and even then there is trace residue. There is a whole new industry called computer forensics the has sprung up around recovering data from computer hard drives and blackberries.

Obama’s “secret basement” at the White House must be getting full (ACORN hard drives, etc). Hell, he couldn’t find his birth certificate or college papers even if he tried.

Gee whiz! It took them several weeks to get a warrant? The same agency subcontractors that cleaned up for them are now searching? No evidence here, move on.... The FBI has no intention of taking a big crap in their own rice bowl.
