Specifically AP ammo is made for the military. Standard ball and all manner of high-tech hollowpoints exist on the civilian market.

Those are Barnes TTSX bullets. Polymer tipped, triple core. Good penetration and expansion.

I shoot them in my .458 SOCOM.

No, those are Ballistic tip hollowpoints, basically hollowpoint bullets with a plastic "plug" to help feeding in semi-autos and promote expansion/fragmentation.
