Nidal Malik Hasan, Suspected Fort Hood Shooter, Was Called "Camel Jockey"
ABC News ^ | 11/6/2009 | Brian Ross

Fort Hood shooting suspect, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, wanted out of the Army after being constantly harassed by others in the military and was called a "camel jockey," his family said.

As Hasan was about to be deployed to Iraq, he was suffering from some of the same stresses that he was trained as an Army psychiatrist to treat.

Although the 39-year-old had just been promoted to major in May, his family says he had hired a lawyer to help him get out of the Armed Forces.

"Apparently became very disgruntled in the mission in Iraq and Afghanistan and voiced that to a lot of his colleagues," said Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX).

He also voiced it to the world in an Internet posting, where he compared suicide bombers to GI's who save their colleagues by throwing themselves on a grenade.

"Just keep in mind mass killers pretty much know they want to die and they tend to take as many people with them as they can in a shooting," said former FBI agent and ABC News consultant Brad Garrett, who also believes Hasan didn't want to survive the Ft. Hood shooting.

"It is one of those things where he went and wanted to kill a lot of people and commit suicide maybe in his own mind that he's saving peoples' lives," said Garrett. "As illogical as that sounds, in his mind, that would be quite logical."

Hasan is an American citizen of Palestinian descent and after the 9/11 attacks, his cousin says he was the target of constant harassment from others in the military. His tormentors called him a "camel jockey," said his cousin, Nader Hasan. He wanted out of the Army, so he paid back his military student loans and hired an attorney.

I think it was his cousin....claimed his car was “keyed” with the word Alah.....I say he made it up...he wanted people to think he was a victim of hate when it is really him that is filled with hate...

If his car was keyed he ought to be able to produce an invoice for the repair. And, gee, I bet the repair shop employees will remember the car, since there aren't many cars vandalized with the word “Allah”.

No invoice, no interviews with auto shop employees = story is a crock of used food. Which I'm sure it is, I'm just demonstrating how his family could prove it isn't.

Years back when my husband was a splicer for Michigan Bell, every guy had a nickname, his was pollock, another guy with the last name of Kraft was always called cheezy, and one of the guys was arab and he was always called camel jockey...When did we get so wishy washy that nicknames were a reason to kill......all the guys loved their nicknames and even the wives called them by that...

Exactly.

In Nayv OIS, our officer cadre called us much, much worse than “Camel Jockey.” My father is a retired Army E8, at one time a drill sergeant. He could use profanity as an art form, I kid you not.

In neither instance, did I suddenly have the urge to off my fellow human beings. The family is lying out of their asses, plain and simple. They are reaching for an excuse. Eff them.

Typical media disinformation. According to an Army officer yesterday on CNN, his complaints were investigated and it was determined that Husan was the harasser.

Yes, United States Military and Drive By Media: PLEASE go tell the families of the victims that these murders and attempted murders were justified because this man’s car was keyed, and he was called a name.

BS statement #2, that he was “Palestinian”: There is no Palestine. His parents were Lebanese.

“WOW..SO HE KILLED 13 AND INJURED 30 BECAUSE OF A NAME.

CAN YOU SMELL THE BS BEING THROWN BY THE MSM.”

Yup, and it is ABSOLUTE HORSE SHIT.

A few years ago I had the misfortune of seeing part of an PBS special regarding Islam. They showed clips of the original Disney cartoon Aladin, and tried to make it sound like America was such a horrible, racist nation because we “depicted muslims poorly, like thieves and killers.” The BASTARDS were trying to insinuate that the US and the Western world brought terrorist actions upon itself because of depicting muslims “poorly.”

What a friggin joke.

I think it's now a hate crime to call the voices of demons "the voices of demons".

Obama's Czar of Islamic Sensitivity suggests we refer to them as "The songs of Allah", or "Whispers of the Paradise-impaired".

“God forbid if any sort of genital uniqueness became known.”

You remind me that a high school classmate was given the nickname El Curvo after our very first gym class in freshman year. That moniker stuck until graduation 4 years later.

Why can’t the media just say it?

He is a devout muslim who was following the teachings of the Koran to the letter.

That is the point that bothers me.
It seems the media and others just don’t “get it”.
The beliefs of the Jihadist are NOT negotiable, convert or die...that’s it.

I hope you came to appreciate the great opportunities that came from your unusual family situation. I can only imagine how tough it must have been. But only you know how to handle it.

I grew up in a family in which a member (my grandmother) had progressive alzheimer's. Like most kids, I just dealt with it. But as an adult, I see the incredible insights it gave me. It was monstrous at the time, but I began early on to notice that it gave me an edge in understanding human behavior and gave me a mature compassion for those who suffer and survive the slings and arrows of life...and it made me more mature than my friends who didn't have such an experience.

I am currently taking care of my 90+ y/o parents (as soon as I get a grip on the status quo, the situation changes...the challenges increase daily)

God bless you. I know it must have been tough growing up in a mixed race household (but I do believe that the mixing of genes makes for a better, stronger person).

Just remember that old saying..."that which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger".

God bless you and give you strength.

>> “It is one of those things where he went and wanted to kill a lot of people and commit suicide maybe in his own mind that he’s saving peoples’ lives,” said Garrett. “As illogical as that sounds, in his mind, that would be quite logical.”

I ask the following question:
Is Garrett, by projecting through Hasan’s mind, speculating that assassinating a dozen solders is “quite logical”?

I am confident that Garrett is no less appalled about the massacre than the next guy and gal. I am confident Garrett vehemently condemns Hasan’s actions, and is deeply saddened by the loss of our Country’s best. But providing any form of cover for the violence is unacceptable and overtly insensitive to everyone that’s been impacted by this horrific event.

There’s no such thing as illogical logic, but it doesn’t surprise me to see the projection of justification for such violent, heinous behavior using this twisted form of understanding. The analysis of what motivates a killer is serious business and should not be flaunted carelessly in the face of those directly affected by the killer’s deeds.
