Nidal Malik Hasan, Suspected Fort Hood Shooter, Was Called "Camel Jockey"
ABC News ^ | 11/6/2009 | Brian Ross

Posted on 11/06/2009 8:12:02 AM PST by Saije

Fort Hood shooting suspect, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, wanted out of the Army after being constantly harassed by others in the military and was called a "camel jockey," his family said.

As Hasan was about to be deployed to Iraq, he was suffering from some of the same stresses that he was trained as an Army psychiatrist to treat.

Although the 39-year-old had just been promoted to major in May, his family says he had hired a lawyer to help him get out of the Armed Forces.

"Apparently became very disgruntled in the mission in Iraq and Afghanistan and voiced that to a lot of his colleagues," said Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX).

He also voiced it to the world in an Internet posting, where he compared suicide bombers to GI's who save their colleagues by throwing themselves on a grenade.

"Just keep in mind mass killers pretty much know they want to die and they tend to take as many people with them as they can in a shooting," said former FBI agent and ABC News consultant Brad Garrett, who also believes Hasan didn't want to survive the Ft. Hood shooting.

"It is one of those things where he went and wanted to kill a lot of people and commit suicide maybe in his own mind that he's saving peoples' lives," said Garrett. "As illogical as that sounds, in his mind, that would be quite logical."

Hasan is an American citizen of Palestinian descent and after the 9/11 attacks, his cousin says he was the target of constant harassment from others in the military. His tormentors called him a "camel jockey," said his cousin, Nader Hasan. He wanted out of the Army, so he paid back his military student loans and hired an attorney.

American I am. But I don’t fit the mold liberals have created for black men in America. I’m a successful business owner who has worked hard all my life. And as such I’m not among the multitudes living in poverty, poverty created by the democratic party. I don’t need government to pay my mortgage and to buy my gas. I don’t vote based on race. I can think for myself and, my ultimate transgression, I am a conservative with values, principles and political ideals that I can and do defend.

Predictable lib response: blame the victims, absolve the perp. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I’m a black conservative who is openly critical of the democratic party and the Messiah, Barack Obama. And as such, I’ve been called things that would make your hair fall out. And that was just at Thanksgiving dinner with my family. ;-)

It’s amazing how badly ABC wants this to be anybody’s fault other than the Muslim jihadist murderer.

Who harasses a major?

Which generals were calling him "camel jockey"?

This is a fabricated line of post-homicidal BS.

If anything, the Islamic voices in his head called him names, not military personnel.

In my neighborhood, name calling was an artform and at times it even exceeded football as a popular sport.

Being called the N word or anything so general wouldn't have passed muster. Names had to leave a welt or, even better, a scar.

Name calling was an evolving situation wherein when a newer, better, more humiliating name was invented, it replaced the one currently in use.

Names of course were triggered by any apparent physical difference--a diabetic would be "Needles", a person with a missing tooth or smile that showed too much gum would be known as Gums and God forbid if any sort of genital uniqueness became known.

The name sources extended to other family members as well. Alcoholic fathers were easy prey. Bookish older brothers and good-looking sisters too. If a guy had a sister who was "suspected" of being easy...his name was "Slutz" or "Skuzz" or "Crabs" or something much worse.

I had a friend whose father was a judge--this kid was first named "Cash" but that evolved into "Bags "(payoffs thought to be delivered in brown paper bags). The last name I remember for that kid was the truncated name of a rapist who allegedly delivered a bag of cash in return for his freedom. We all thought the judge had to be a crook because the kid was so devastated by the name calling.

Whatever the names, they had to be painfully true such that they were deeply humiliating. Somehow we knew (well I knew anyway) that facing this deep humiliation could lead to strength of character...a kind of psychotic boot camp.

The only triggers off limits for name derivation were mothers...and I think that was because, first, such could get you killed (particularly by some mamma's boy who went wacko under the pressure) and, second, because it might get back to someone's mother and then back to your own...mothers just developed into a kind of DMZ that was understood and accepted by everyone.

Name assignment was also a powerful way for the smart, little kids to level the playing field with the older, bigger guys. It also helped the smaller kids develop their capacity for creativity by inventing names that could cause/demand the big guys to give them respect...and it helped in developing fleetness of foot and agility on the playground (as in fleeing the scene before getting a @sswhupping).

In the final analysis, the Fort Hood shooter must have grown up in a very deprived environment if he thought "camel jockey" was bad. The kids in my neighborhood would have been a great help in his "growth" process.

I saw Jeff Dunham’s show last night...however, even though I love his act, it was hard to laugh at some of the lines. I told hubby I just hoped everyone realized that that the show was taped in advance, otherwise it might have been considered controversial, given yesterday’s events.

These assertions remind me of the DUKE Lacrosse Case in Durham NC 3 years ago. After 1 year of BS we finally get the truth, no thanks to the MSM.

Thia Major is just like the PFC who murdered soldiers in his airborne unit in 2003 in Kuwait with grenades before the IRAQ WAR.

He deserves the same punishment.

Ow! Thats gotta sting a bit! :-)

Our parents were next door neighbors and friends and he and I took crap from both sides at school because we didn't realize we were not supposed to be best friends.

We both ended up graduating from Engineering school and to this day think and act quite alike. Our wives laugh at how we can finish each others sentences.

By the way, we both lost most of our hair!

Not so in my neighborhood. My mother married a black man in the 1950s. While mixed-race marriages are widely accepted now they were anything but back then.

The name-calling came from both whites and blacks.

God Bless you and the many, may more of you ‘out there’ - and speaking up.

Thanks to the new RIC (Racist in Chief) in the WH, and his gang over using the race card - they have greatly diluted its trength. That card is maxed out - and way over limit.

I was shocked a week or so ago when a racist bigot slurred Jaun Williams on national TV. (I like Juan. He's a lib, but an honest one = a rarity in itself.)

It was on the O-Reilly show - I don't know if you caught it? Juan was so shocked that his face just went blank - and O'R quickly shut it down.

Ah, but as providence would have it, the very next night, Juan was standing in for O’Reilly and, boy, did he rake that guy over the coals! It was exhilarating! And I'm sure a lot of libs, especially black libs, were shocked at Juan's animated defense of Rush Limbaugh! This is beautiful!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca5OSmrnDpc

Here's another example of Juan's honesty -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJhe00QSlBI&feature=related

(I'd like to see FOX scrap the little weasel Shep Smith and give Juan his own show. (I think all these years of hanging around with conservatives is starting to rub off a bit)

But bottom line? It may just be that the RIC is going to achieve just what he did not intend -

People are becoming less and less afraid of being called a ‘racist’ for expressing honest opinions.

that's a powerful weapon lost by the socialists.
