Alleged Gunman Paralyzed

Witnesses to Thursday's massacre at Fort Hood said alleged shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan appeared calm and shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at a crowd of young soldiers, pausing only to reload before he was taken down by a female officer who is being hailed as a hero.

SNIP... The massacre ended when Hasan was shot several times by a civilian security guard. Hasan survived the shootout, but ABC News has learned that he has been left paralyzed by his injuries.

SNIP....

Cone said wounded first responder Sgt. Kimberly Munley, who exchanged gunfire with Hasan and managed to shoot him four times despite being shot herself, put a stop to the carnage with her quick thinking and willingness to go head-to-head with the gun-wielding officer.

"She was quite effective, one of our most impressive young policemen," Cone said. "She walked up and basically engaged him. I think, certainly, this could've been far worse."

Cone said Munley spent Thursday night calling her fellow co-workers from her hospital bed to make sure everyone was OK.

Alleged? This is carrying political correctness to the extreme.

While many would think in this fashion, it is actually proper to do it this way. He hasn't been tried yet, although to my mind, the outcome of said trial isn't in doubt. Legally he must still be presumed innocent, thus the "alleged"...

Wonder what happens when they hang you while you’re in a wheelchair?

Essentilly the same thing. It was not unheard of for people to be hanged while seated in chairs, back in the day. In fact, the last woman to be hanged in Australia was hanged while seated in a chair...

I’m sure that they’ll be able to find someone willing to wheel him into the execution chamber. He won’t have to walk.

Someone should ask the Muslim Brohood how they feel about one of their heroes being taken out by a woman.

UCMJ - the scumbag will be tried under the UCMJ, convicted, sentenced to death, and executed.

“Legally he must still be presumed innocent, thus the “alleged”...”

This ain’t court. It’s a journalist trick. If they have sympathy, they use “alleged”

The added weight of the chair helps sever the cervical spine during the hanging.

Hanging kills you by preventing your body from taking a breath, because the brain-to-diaphram connection is broken.

It’s an ugly way to die. quite suitable.

I heard some "talking head" on FOX this AM saying that he hoped the creep would be tried in the civilian court system! I almost choked on my coffee.

This "talking head" is also a complete and utter moron for another reason. Follow: Where is Fort Hood? Why in Texas, which isn't exactly well-known for "knee jerk" liberal sympathies, and has, and uses with fair frequency, the death penalty. No... This "jihadi jerk" is toast, regardless...

The success of Sgt. Munly reminds me of the old saying:

God created men, but Sam Colt made them equal.

I would agree with you if the MSM used the same standards when referring to those on the Right who are in similar circumstances. This is the double standard. Remember the Duke Lacrosse team incident? I can rattle off a list of similar incidents where the MSM presumed those guilty of their alleged crimes.

In any event "proper" doesn't apply in this case. The guy lying in that hospital bed is the shooter and to apply courtroom standards on how to describe him is political correctness run amok. For awhile, the MSM was afraid to give his name out because of the implications. During the Presidential campaign using Obama's middle name was considered racist and inflammatory.

If you think this scumbag will be punished for this abomination by this government you should be aware that according to Wikipedia the muslim terrorist, Sgt Hasan Akbar, who attacked and murdered and wounded several fellow soldiers in the Kuwaiti desert in Mar 2003 is still awaiting his punishment. He was sentenced to death in April 2005 apparently being appealed. Probably will die of natural death before the sentence is carried out.

Throw the book at him. here are just four articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to prosecute him under.....

918. ART. 118. MURDER
Any person subject to this chapter whom without justification or excuse, unlawfully kills a human being, when he- -
(1) has a premeditated design to kill;
(2) intends to kill or inflict great bodily harm;
(3) is engaged in an act which is inherently dangerous to others and evinces a wanton disregard of human life; or
(4) is engaged in the perpetration or attempted perpetration of burglary, sodomy, rape, robbery, or aggravated arson;
is guilty of murder, and shall suffer such punishment as a court-martial may direct, except that if found guilty under clause (1) or (4), he shall suffer death or imprisonment for life as a court-martial may direct.

924. ART. 124. MAIMING
Any person subject to this chapter who, with intent to injure, disfigure, or disable, inflicts upon the person of another an injury which—
(1) seriously disfigures his person by a mutilation thereof;
(2) destroys or disables any member or organ of his body; or
(3) seriously diminishes his physical vigor by the injury of any member or organ;
is guilty of maiming and shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

933. ART. 133. CONDUCT UNBECOMING AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN
Any commissioned officer, cadet, or midshipman who is convicted of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

934. ART. 134. GENERAL ARTICLE
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special or summary court-martial, according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.

I don’t know what civilian awards for heroism are available, but if the commanding general’s account of Sgt. Kimberly Munley’s actions are correct, and she in fact moved forward and engaged with this guy face to face while he was armed with two weapons, was wounded herself and yet still managed to hit him four times and put an end to this carnage, then she deserves the highest recognition possible. To have performed this brilliantly under those conditions is almost unbelievable. To actually be so in control of your emotions that you can hit the guy with your weapon under those conditions speaks volumes about her own professionalism as well as some outstanding training, I would say.

But... but surely this military court will NOT be televised live on Court TV, right?

You are absolutely correct. BTW: you can, if you want to read a great deal, google "UCMJ" and "military court trial procedures" and find out a bunch.

As to Jeraldo drawing pictures on the ground...yep...I think that's a perfect role for him.

I was thinking FOX might also assign him to find out all about where D.B. Cooper hid all the cash after he parachuted out of the plane.

That should keep the idiot off the air and busy for quite some time.
