WASHINGTON His name appears on radical Internet postings. A fellow officer says he fought his deployment to Iraq and argued with soldiers who supported U.S. wars. He required counseling as a medical student because of problems with patients.
There are many unknowns about Nidal Malik Hasan, the man authorities say is responsible for the worst mass killing on a U.S. military base. Most of all, his motive. But details of his life and mindset, emerging from official sources and personal acquaintances, are troubling.
For six years before reporting for duty at Fort Hood, Texas, in July, the 39-year-old Army major worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center pursuing his career in psychiatry, as an intern, a resident and, last year, a fellow in disaster and preventive psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001.
While an intern at Walter Reed, Hasan had some "difficulties" that required counseling and extra supervision, said Dr. Thomas Grieger, who was the training director at the time. ......................"

Army Major (Hasan) Played Role in Presidential (Obama) Transition

He worked for Homeland Security in Obozos transition team.
Was Hasan heckled by the Troops at Hood for his sympathy for his fellow Muslims. Did he explode and shoot a bunch of them?
Was this about his connection to the Obozo team. Many in the Mil would not like him for this.
Just a question.
How the hell did they let this sick SOB stay in the service for all of these years?
To me, that’s the big ‘unknown’ in this deal. What the heck was this guy still doing in the military?
Again, who appointed this sick SOB to the transition team?

Have you ever heard of a "protected minority"?
They all need to be watched.
Have no clue. But that should be investigated.
Protected by who and why so damn long?
The ‘evils’ of social-economic engineering of our Armed Forces (and of our general populace). Tolerance, diversity, sexual/religious harassment and all that!!!
I just said this on another thread, but some people - namely command - are going to have some explaining to do. But, I can think of several motivations people may have had to ignore him - he's a minority, he's Muslim, he's a doctor and he's a psychiatrist.
All of those qualifiers demand special attention because of political correctness (yes, it infect the military too), and the practical demand of physicians and mental health professional, especially when their entire education was paid for by the Army.
Lastly, this has been his real first assignment in the "fleet" (as the Navy calls it). Before now, he's been in an academic or clinical setting - surrounded by people because of his profession, aren't nearly as sensitive to the importance of good order and discipline - not making excuses, just trying to offer some practical explanations.
Your government. Who else?
It may come down to those two things, political correctness and the money invested in his education.
Looks like he serves on the advisory board in Orland Illinois.

How could this be? Such a loving muslim.
The only surprise is that he’s not a Czar?
Pray for America and Ft Hood
Exactly. They were afraid to do anything about him for fear of the reprisals and outrage that would result from chucking this terrorist out on his butt.
You can take to the bank that massive damage control, a$$-covering, and spin doctoring efforts are going on right now over this, on many fronts.
It was hilarious (well, not really) to watch NBC news tonight carefully ignoring the 800-pound gorilla hanging over Brian Williams’ shoulder...
Let’s immigrate a few million more here, we just don’t have enough Religion Of Peace enriching America yet.
