Mesta, he was a Virginia Tech grad - do you know the name of the mosque, and any link to the mosque’s connections to other attacks?

Does anyone know if he was a member of any “right wing militia”?

The slain gunman was identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a law enforcement source told CNN. Licensed in Virginia, Hasan was a psychiatrist who previously worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center but more recently was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to professional records.

I figured I was the only one who agreed with his decision.

I remember what happened to Richard Jewell...it’s smart to wait.

Shep now interviewing fellow worker or the major...major said people should rise up and fight against us...lots of very anti-American statements...pro Islam...Muslims should stand up to the aggressors..

Holy crap....you should hear the rest of this...amazing comments- and he was being deployed...and he murdered soldiers today.

This is a lone terrorist attack.

A recent convert to Islam and he has already mastered fatwa and jihad? Hmmm, fast learner.

Not fast enough. When you master the religion, you learn to recruit others to die in suicide attacks, rather than executing them yourself.

Wonder if this Major had a Facebook or MySpace page? That’s usually how we find m.o.’s on major crime perps nowadays.

I bet the problem is that he never accepted Barack H. Obama as his personal savior. /sarc>

mmm, mmm, mmm. /double-sarc>

Prayers up for the families.

A good suggestion made on Jason Lewis today -- a caller suggested that since this guy is a psychiatrist, with the rank of Major, he may have gotten medical/psychiatric training and had the government pay off the loans in return for a stint in the military. So we don't yet know for sure just *how long* he has been in the armed forces.

Oh -- and how long did it take for the press and the Dems to dig up Joe the Plumber's life story, when they wanted *that*? Surely the government has more information about a major in the Army at its fingertips, than this.

Makes one wonder even more, it does.

Obama’s “press announcement” on this ACT OF TERRORISM might as well have been a weather report as far as what abc radio news replayed on the hourly news “headlines”

How soon will this ISSUE of jihadists in my Nations MILITARY be Addressed?

Malik means “King” in Arabic. The info I found online says he went to medical school and residency in damascus, Syria.

You’re right. I was informed earlier about the meaning. The Syria connection, I had not heard that...interesting. Thanks.

By the time Atta and Shehhi returned to Virginia Beach from their travels in Georgia, Hazmi and Hanjour had also arrived in Virginia, in Falls Church. They made their way to a large mosque there, the Dar al Hijra mosque, sometime in early April.73

As we mentioned earlier, one of the imams at this mosque was the same Anwar Aulaqi with whom Hazmi had spent time at the Rabat mosque in San Diego. Aulaqi had moved to Virginia in January 2001. He remembers Hazmi from San Diego but has denied having any contact with Hazmi or Hanjour in Virginia.74

At the Dar al Hijra mosque, Hazmi and Hanjour met a Jordanian named Eyad al Rababah. Rababah says he had gone to the mosque to speak to the imam, Aulaqi, about finding work. At the conclusion of services, which normally had 400 to 500 attendees, Rababah says he happened to meet Hazmi and Hanjour. They were looking for an apartment; Rababah referred them to a friend who had one to rent. Hazmi and Hanjour moved into the apartment, which was in Alexandria.75

More likely it will be out of the news cycle in under two weeks.

If it doesn’t fit the spin agenda, it didn’t happen.

The thing is, the actions by these guys will have serious consequences, soldiers will now find it extremely hard to trust their own unit muslim colleagues now.

As they should. The whole war started because of muslim attacks. It is being spun as a religious war by the same people. That propaganda is making it to our own muslim population, and some (but by no means all) will be influenced by it.

If the Grunts aren't concerned about this, they had better be.

There is a vast complex of mosques and islamic centers around DC.

It is a hotspot, but nobody ever says it out loud.
