Because the American newspapers are busy trying to whip up sympathy for the shooter, instead of telling the truth.
The sleeper Hasan was preparing for this for a long time.
My guess is he got tired of waiting for the call to all-out jihad, so he jumped the gun and acted on his own. Like the Egyptian pilot who took down a whole planeload of infidels, or like Richard Reid the Shoebomber who tried to do the same.
Now the Obamanistas are in panic mode, thus rushing their puppet off to Camp David, while plotting what to do when a lone jihadist tips off everyone to The Plan.
