Because the American newspapers are busy trying to whip up sympathy for the shooter, instead of telling the truth.
...and political correctness...and fear.
First, it’s political correctness.
Talking while not really discussing a subject under the guise of tolerance
is part of political correctness — which is a culture killer.
Next it’s fear.
Fear. I understand fear personally; as a lot of people have. What one does with their fear is very telling.
One can use their fear to spring into action.
One can set aside their fear long enough to form a plan of action — and then go do it.
Or, as what’s happening today; one can cower under their fear like a deer in the headlights or a like a little child who closes his eyes and hopes the bad things go away.
