The ironic thing is, a friend presented with the same symptoms at almost the exact same time as me. Where were we together? A high school volleyball tournament in Kent county early Sat. morning.
No you can't. There are massive shortages in all states and when they do get a small shipment in, they go to pregant women, toddlers and those with chronic illnesses that are high risk.
You can be high risk, but without a chronic illness, no shot.
I had the flu last week and I have no idea which strain. But here I am alive after taking the unusual step of bundling up(didn’t break a fever over 100), lying low, sleeping(a lot) and taking it easy.
Easiest flu I ever had in my life. If had just kept on trucking I would have been truly miserable, as I have in the past.
BTW, just read an article about the Finance Wiz’s on Wall Street getting the Swine Flu shot before everyone else and there is a very telling line in the article;
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE5A44QI20091105
“The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates swine flu has infected more than 5 million people and it is documented as having killed 1,000.”
1,000 deaths out of 5 million infections? Is that a reason to take some experimental goo in your arm? Considering the odds?
What is that 0.0002% deaths (I used a calculator)?
Go ahead and take the experiment if you think the risk is worth it.
The point is that you can get the swine flu more than once.
If you are insured; you can go to your own doctor and get the shot.

Really...gee its funny my hospital has no vaccine available...hasn’t for weeks!
And no way I'd take that vaccine either.
I read that it peaked last week.
Are you required to have proof of no insurance?
I read that it hasn’t peaked yet.
To put that in perspective, we have 18-20 thousand flu deaths in the US every year, without the swine flu in the mix. And there are plenty of flu cases that don’t get diagnosed as swine.
Gee, thanks.
Give me the address of a private clinic in Texas that has some. I got my seasonal flu shot at the pharmacy of my local HEB. HEB hasn't announced any clinics for H1N1 vaccines. I don't see any minor emergency clinics advertising that they have H1N1 vaccine either.
A friend of mine that lives in Texas had it and she had her doctor test to confirm that it was H1N1 because her daughter is pregnant(high risk) and had been exposed. It was indeed H1N1. What was odd was the person who had been sick and she thought she got it from turned out to be negative for H1NI, so who knows where she got it. They told her it can live on paper for up to 48 hours(such as mail)which is rather odd.
I’ve been spraying Lysol in my mailbox.
How are you doing now? Was it bad? Everyone that I know that has had CONFIRMED H1N1 said it was horrible. Days of high fever, pain so bad they could barely get out of bed.
I recieved a flu shot 2 years ago and my legs and feet still have not completely stopped shaking constantly.
I’ll take my chances with the flu.
What I do want to know: Why, on the few occasions I have to go or take my child to the emergency room, I have to wait behind the nonpaying customers?
Shouldn’t there be separate lines for those who are paying for their healthcare and those who are not?
I think you are the first poster who sort of clued in to the joke here.
Also, no one over 65, supposedly because they are in less danger. Frankly, I doubt that, especially the guy with cancer problems who was turned away.
As for going to your doctor or pharmacist, do we know that they have any vaccine yet? Ours don’t. I suspect that illegals and welfare criminals and other Obama voters will get first shot at the vaccine, and everybody else can wait.
Whether you want it in the first place is another question.
Yes, that is correct; but because you have had it, the severity of the second outbreak is dramatically less, the duration is shorter and the recovery faster.
Here's the catch. We all have some limited immunity to the Asian flu and previous versions of influenza. Each mutation has something in common with the flu we have either had, or had the vaccine shot for at some point in our lives. So, we can weather those strains pretty well.
No one who has not either had Swine Flu or the vaccine this year has any immunity at all. This is a new strain of bug - no human is immune. We are very lucky that THIS version is fairly benign - however what about next year, or the years after that. Eventually this will mutate into one NASTY bug. If you have no immunity at all; you will get very sick, or possibly die.
Consider, most of the survivors of the 1918 Spanish Influenza outbreak were people who had caught influenze in 1917.
I’m one of the few that hasn’t had prolonged fever. But the body aches have been horrible, like I had been beaten with a bat. Really felt it in my shoulder/elbow/hip joints. Its as though my entire body is one big, throbbing bruise. And the shortness of breath is crazy. Get tired just going up 7 stairs. Any physical activity and I break out in a sweat. Of course, right now, I’m freezing my butt off with a sweatshirt, sweatpants and heavy socks on. And the headaches... they are the worst part.
In your case, I would whole-heartedly agree with you. Not everyone's body reacts to vaccines the same. For you, it sounds like they can do far more harm than good - however, in this particular case, I think you would agree that you are not the norm.
