Daniel Hannan, the Conservative MEP, has resigned as European legal spokesman only two months after taking up the post in protest at his party's stance on the Lisbon Treaty.
Mr Hannan, a leading Eurosceptic, became the Tory spokesman on legal affairs in the European Parliament in September.
But last night on his Telegraph blog, Mr Hannan, the Conservative MEP for South East England, said he would be returning to the back benches in order to campaign for direct democracy that will see power in the hands of individual citizens.

Thankfully, Dan is returning to the UK, instead of being chastised in the mire of intentional dead end chitter-chatter of the European Parliament.
I predict that Daniel Hannan, together with Lord Malcolm Pearson, Baron Pearson of Rannoch, will take the mantle of the UKIP Party for the General Election in the Spring.

How, and/or why, did the admirably Consevative Mr. Hannan allow himself to be co-opted into OneWorldGovernment-lite in the first place??

Sorry, I’m woefully ignorant of UK politics. You’re saying that Hannan will leave a major party to join a smaller, but more conservative/libertarian third party? Sounds like some parallels to what’s going on here in the States.

I think He genuinely believed that He could make a difference in Europe, for Britain, Uncle.
He has released that the MEP system was set up to occupy people's observations whilst the fascism was constructed in the shadows, the Conservative Leaders' U Turn on Lisbon was the final straw.
Dan is adored here by many, if He jumps ship to UKIP, the Conservative Party is dead in the water, and it's coming, I promise!

Yes, Thecable, that's what's going to happen, UKIP will speak for the masses next year, without a doubt they will be immensley powerful at the General Election in the Spring.
If Dan joins UKIP, there'll be an absolute exodus from Labour and Tory.

Thank you for your insights...
If Mr. Hannan, et. al., can turn Britain around, then there’s hope for us, too.... ;)

Good for you Hannan. This is a master stroke.
Not just because you're no longer trapped in occupied territory. The British people like it when MPs resign from sinecures - it shows character.

It is interesting that he speaks with great eloquence and at the same time it can and IS understood by everyone. I wish we had someone that plain spoken and straight talking here.

Yes, it's UK Independance Party.
They were created in oppostion to Britain joining a Communist Europe, and as such, have still really to define their Policy in many other areas, Anne.
If Dan could stamp His Libertarian tendencies onto that Party, with someone like Lord Pearson, we're really onto something.
*Fingers crossed*

pray for him then! He, like Churchill, will face lots of skeptics who will scoff at his speaking the truth. Our world needs more men like Churchill and Hannan...and send ‘em over here to the US, too! We so need leaders like this to fight the outright onslaught of socialism and the covert/overt efforts by radical Muslims to destroy our societies.
The US, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia have GOT to stand together, or we will all vanish together. That is the intent of those who hate our peoples for our countries’ successes, opportunities, and especially freedoms. Leaders that are bold, clear, and conservative will rally the people behind them—as can be seen by how popular Hannan is here in the states.
God bless him!
