House Republicans and tea party protesters spent the summer and much of the fall in an awkward mating dance, with neither group too sure it wanted to embrace the other.
But they consummated the relationship over the weekend in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District, and theyll come together Thursday in Washington for a coordinated assault on the Democrats plans for health care reform.
The idea took flight last week, when Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told Foxs Sean Hannity that she hoped all of his viewers would join her for a press conference outside the Capitol on Thursday and then walk with her through Cannon, Longworth, Rayburn, where they would go up and down through the halls, find members of Congress, look at the whites of their eyes and say, Dont take away my health care.
That may be a bit more than Republican leaders have in mind.
Asked Tuesday whether House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) supports the idea of having conservative activists confronting Democrats in the halls of House office buildings, spokesman Michael Steel would say only that every American has the right to visit the Capitol and speak to members of Congress.

Michael Steeele and Newt need to get out of the way and make way for the people that are really relevant, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, etc....
Newt is using it to seek redemption:
Dear xxxx,
If you haven’t heard, Speaker Pelosi will try to ram through the House a $1.3 trillion, 1990-page government-run health care bill this week.
With our very freedom at stake, I have an important request to make of you:
Come to Washington, DC this Thursday, November 5, at Noon for a nationwide “House Call” to protest this government takeover of our health care system.
OR:
If you can’t make the trip to DC, join the protest by calling your Member of Congress’ office on Thursday at Noon.
I know coming to Washington, DC is a lot to ask, and I wouldn’t be asking if I did not think it was critical. But this could be our only chance to stop the government from taking our freedom by taking over our health care.
If you can make it to Washington, DC, Members of Congress will be holding a rally at noon on the East steps of the U.S. Capitol, followed by walking the halls of Congress and the Capitol office buildings to share your concerns directly with your representative and his or her staff. We’re hoping as many people as possible responds to the “House Call” to demonstrate our strong opposition to Pelosi’s plan for government-run health care.
See more details here and RSVP for the “House Call” rally.
The overwhelming outcry at the August town halls was a clear sign that the American people reject a government takeover of health care. But now it’s as if Speaker Pelosi is pretending those town halls never happened. They are more determined than ever to ram through this legislation without listening to the wishes of the American people.
Before the House votes later this week on spending $1.3 trillion to create a government-run healthcare system, we have another chance to make our voices heard.
I hope you’ll join the “House Call” this Thursday.
Sincerely,
Newt Gingrich
General Chairman
American Solutions
P.S. Please RSVP and let us know if you’re able to join the rally in Washington, DC or by calling Congressman’s local district office.
Makes me wonder how many Democrat Congressmen will actually see anyone.
I am sure they will dissappear and some staff person will have to take the dirty work.
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) ... While Frank gives credit to the Republicans for self-knowledge they need the help he says they are looking for it in the wrong place.
They are an example of a principle I have tried to get activists to understand: The more emotionally satisfying you find an activity, the less it advances your cause, Frank says.
If they duck and run, that will have consequences in 2010.
On top of the wins last night, if there is a sizeable turnout in the 1000’s for Thursday this should shake some of those blue dogs up.
Michele Bachmann. Gotta love that woman. She’s doing more than the RNC.
I doubt a Democrat Congressman is too worried about being accused of ducking a Republican Conservative.
If they pass this bill there SHOULD be consequences in 2010.
...Pffft! Boehner...Ever seen one of these smooth-haired politicians that was worth a warm pitcher of spit!
Verga.... that is exactly the correct message to send to the tired hacks that have their hands on the levers. The same message needs to tattooed on the forehead of every RINO and DIABLO in the system.
“Michael Steeele and Newt need to get out of the way and make way for the people that are really relevant, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, etc....”
NONSENSE, if they require someone to make way for them they don’t deserve to be there.
Michele Bachmann and a mating dance. Hmmmmm...
Newt is using it to seek redemption....
Newt cannot seek redemption because he has NEVER admitted that an error in judgment preceded his current position!
What??? I've been to several local events and the big March on DC and the republicans were the last think on my mind. There was no dance!
But they consummated the relationship over the weekend in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District, and theyll come together Thursday in Washington for a coordinated assault on the Democrats plans for health care reform.
Does anyone know what Daniel is talking about here?
What happened in NY 23 last week-end?
Who gives a rip what they have in mind? THEY work for US and they need to be instructed on that little detail!
You’re worked up beyond typing I see. Passion is good.
Indeed, Newt needs to get over his “politician” self and embrace his Christian self. Confess, repent, sin no more and pray for redemption and restoration.
Go visit your home district office and form a Tea Party. This is important.
Pray for America
WE CAN’T LET UP!
Now that Reid admits that the Senate won’t vote until next year, that means that we hit every Senator and Congressman when they come home for their Christmas break.
Pound them relentlessly like we did in August.
I wish we could afford to be in DC tomorrow, but I want to hear DETAILS from those who are!
