I wouldn’t be surprised if she made a deal with Obammie the Commie.

Not singling you out to contradict you, deannadurbin...it's just that your comment makes a good jumping off point for mine, and I want to second what napscoordinator has posted.

Maybe the weather was cold up there and once again conservatives sat on their fannies and didn’t get out to help save their country.

Or maybe, just maybe, conservatives can't take it for granted that the electorate is inherently conservative anymore, and we should expend our effort in getting the message out to voters rather than trying to force the issues against the tide or just pretending that everything is great if we just stay optimistic (though admittedly that latter approach has cut way back after 2008, even though it hadn't after 2006).

But such a suggestion is heresy to many here (thus the origin of my tagline).

I think what LOST was the notion that outsider conservatives would impose a hardline conservative on them, versus their local process.

Exactly right...specially with the independent streak of the people in the northern part of the 23rd.

True conservatism might be best, but that argument must be made. Many people worry, though, that if they lean an inch toward conservatives, conservatives will try to grab a mile...and I can see why they have that worry, since many faux conservatives DO!.

No one’s ‘forgotten’ How could we, its all we hear from the RNC bureaucracy. That, and send more money.

So are you telling me, if a local perv, Marxist is put up by the local ‘Republicans’( what ever that means now a days ), well then we just ought to be all milk and cookies, and money to the the vaunted RNC? Like, what is their function, or malfunction as it were? How come every one else was on Scuzz as the puke she was, and not only didn’t support her, which the RNC did, not only didn’t give her money, which the RNC did, but exposed her?

Who would run a clueless organization? NY 23 was a big, big, clueless failure. Obviously, the RNC and all it’s talk about ‘rebuilding’ is a bunch of palaver. Boob bait for conservatives. You ought not to be water carrying for them on this.

I think you got it half right. The republicans should have picked someone else than Dede, but Hoffman was a truly miserable excuse of a politician for the conservatives to rally around. He does not know the local issues and acts like a deaf mute on TV.

Agreed. Many voters care more about a candidate's appearance of competence than an ideology.

If conservatives don't "get it" after this, I don't know how I can hold onto any hope for the future. Are people really so self-delusional as to think the plurality of the electorate is just dying to vote conservative, and that it must be fraud if they lose (rather than the fact that most people on the street in much of the country are scared of "conservatives" having power)?

NY is a mess and it is the voters that need to clean it up.

I couldn’t agre more. I grew up in that state, went to college in that state, lived and worked there for about 10 years before moving out. Most statewide elections were upstate versus downstate.

If you know anthing at all about the Democrat Party and how they steal elections and manufacture votes, thn you have a pretty good idea as to what happened.

We need more Christies and McDonnells.
No, we do NOT need more Christies and McDonnells. McDonnell is better than Christie but they are both RINOs. McDonnell has some decent Conservative creds but he ran AGAINST his own Conservative background in his campaign commercials, apologizing for his true Conservative ideals. The loss by Hoffman and the NJ/VA wins are just going to embolden the RINOs to run "moderate" candidates. 2010 will be a watershed year for the Republican Party. If they do not run Conservatives instead of RINOs in the races in 2010 then true Conservatives will HAVE to form their own party (hopefully led by Sarah). If not, we will be whining for years to come how the Republicans do not respect us, etc. etc. etc. "

There will be a primary and eventually a conservative, or mostly conservative candidate, in NY23 next fall. If Hoffman wants to be that candidate he should show he’s learned from this run. He shouldn’t back down from his conservative principles - that’s always a game killer - but can improve his knowledge of peripheral issues and try to improve the way he handles and presents himself. He could really use his own Henry Higgins.

“A 3rd party guy got 45%”

I wonder if today Rush will use this example to show that Third Party candidates never win ... even when they are conservatives.

I think a lot of voters do resent third party candidates and simply wish to vote along their straight party line, because they’ve always done that, their fathers have always done that, their grandfathers have always done that ...

I think the prevailing sentiment is correct. Gingrich and Scozzafava cost Hoffman this election. The GOP actually ate their own in this one. If Scozzafava had done right by the party she would have endorsed Hoffman. It just goes to show you can’t trust immoral people, or people who uphold immoral ideals.

They won and Hoffman didn’t. There are lessons there, if one is brave enough to study them.

The thing that disgusts me is the Republican throwing her support to the Democrat in the race over the conservative. Folks, this is the way the RNC thinks, you guys think you’re welcome in the party, and that Sarah will be, you’re so wrong. They would rather see a democrat win because they in the end want the same ends. It’s so obvious yet you guys keep falling for it, Globe Trotters vs Generals, check out a game sometime ...

Scozzafava, obviously a vindictive bit6h, endorsed the rat and lost us this seat.

I despise Rinos! I'm beginning to think they actually work for the DNC.
