Bummer! but he didn’t lose by all that much. The next ones won’t be on such short notice.

This makes me very sad.

Symbolically, it could have spoke volumes.

Not that VA or NJ didn't. They are great news. But we had some high profile people involved in this race.

I was channel switching between Fox, PMSNBC (who had the absolute worst coverage), and CNN. I was surprised none of the Democrat commentators made mention of the fact that Sarah Palin went to bat for Hoffman and sent him money from her PAC, but he still lost.

I think we sure have work left to do here, folks, if we had Rush, Sean, Glenn, Sarah, Mark Levin, the Thompsons, ALL pushing Hoffman in the last few weeks but he still lost.

I don’t know: maybe people didn’t want to vote for someone who looked like Barney Fife. I guess voters CAN be that shallow: look how many women voters voted for Barry O because of his looks.

It is not the RNC or NRCC as neither one of them had a say in who was picked.

This whole fiasco lies at the feet of the NY CD-23 county chairs who chose who along with the NY State GOP Chair who turned a blind eye to the selection process.

RNC and NRCC are required by the Rules of the Republican Party to support the Republican candidate. They did not control her nomination in any way shape or form.

Blame the right people — CD-23 GOP County Chairs and the NY State GOP Chair.

If the party has a lick of sense (which I doubt they do) they'd be getting Hoffman ready for a rematch, this time as the ENDORSED candidate.

I agree. I think Hoffman has a lot of name recognition nationwide, and could get enough financial backing to crush Owens the second time around, this time on the official GOP ticket. This by-election may be over, but the grudge match is on.

Early voting perhaps.

(Do they have that?)

Once again the rats outsmarted the GOP. UGH!

I really liked the idea of a conservative citizen politician CPA going to Congress.

One has to wonder if Dede, or whatever her name is, had not been confronted with Hoffman would she have won? Looks like it. Not that I wanted a RINO...but in a way Newt was right.

We should not focus on this one election. We sent a message to the Rino’s We will win next year. Rove said which no one else will cover all the local wins in Pitt. and Michigan and Virginia.

Win or lose in NY23, the RINOGOP got the message loud and clear:

"We are not going to put up with any more RINO candidates!!!"

“The GOP establishment gift wrapped the NY 23 for the Democrats.”

That’s not how it will be spun. Forget that a 3rd party candidate almost won this race. From the Dems the spin will be “this is proof that America is turning liberal”, and from the GOP it’ll be “This is proof that you people should shut up and do what you’re told”.

This needs repeating again -

“If GOP picked Hoffman instead of Scoffa, then he would’ve won. Scoffa got 6k of the votes even though she pulled out. Who voted for her? Probably those GOPers who vote party line without realizing she has already pulled out.”

Although some may have voted early before she pulled out, with her name still on the ballot, there are more than a few who saw the “R” and voted for her. They are of the vote for the Republican, no matter what, crowd.

Bingo! There must be consequences for all the county chairs who selected Scozzafava. Demand their immediate resignations. Michael Steele should face a serious grilling here. It is not enough to say that he (Steele) did not have a say in this choice by county chairs.

Newt Gingrich should be considered “yesterday” and not receive a dime’s worth of attention anymore. Boehner and Romney need to embrace solid conservative positions (economic and social) or be relegated to footnotes and ouster. In short, no more RINOs.

If they redistrict NY, they will make that district a strong dem district and Owens will be a lock for as long as they want him to be.

Thanks a bunch Newt.

3rd party candidates get Democrats elected. How many times does this scenario have to play out before the message sinks in. Don’t blame the RNC, blame the guy who tore the GOP candidates legs out from under her. Blame those who supposedly opposed Owens but guaranteed that he’d win. I can’t say it enough 3rd party candidates get Democrats elected. Owens should send Hoffman candy and flowers for all the help.

Who would have thought that an election in my home state would be the event that would render Newt “the quintessential D.C.” insider useless as far as right wing politics is concerned. The proof is in the pudding, see how well Newt’s next book will sell.

I feel the same way. But consider NJ, where “The Lightbringer” (how Luciferian by the way) made repeated, full bore efforts to get his guy reelected.

He will be walking funny tomorrow, and the curdled milk expression on Michelle’s face will probably knock passing birds dead right out of the sky.

And now . . . I can finally say it.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE, I AM PROUD OF NEW JERSEY!
