The Democrats seem to be positioning themselves for two and maybe three big losses in today's off-year elections. Late polls suggest that the Republicans could sweep the gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia and the special congressional election in upstate New York. So Democratic strategists have been downplaying the idea that today's results will be a referendum on President Obama or his policies.
This morning, Brad Woodhouse, communications director for the Democratic National Committee, sent an E-mail to reporters questioning whether the elections should be nationalized by the media. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters, "I don't think that these elections will portend a lot."
ROLF
I a little dense, what does ROLF stand for?
Bill Clinton has ALREADY said the exact opposite.

"In a fundraising e-mail for Owens, Clinton called the special election bigger than just one candidate or one office . . . victory or defeat will also be seen as a referendum on President Obamas agenda. "
We all know that bill always tells the truth, don't we?
LOL! Got that right. There's a whole lotta styrofoam at stake here.
They know who's angry and who's motivated. And the one recourse the Dems and their lapdog media have between now and the 2010 elections is to smear, slander, demonize. The talking points are already on the street. "Yeah, this victory is really bad for the GOP because the fact that more people voted for them means that they're driving people away from the party." I'm trying to make sense of that one myself. I think it's a Zen koan.
They blame everything on W so it must be a referendum on him then right?
Probably the same people that work on their budgets!
If the elections aren't important why did 0 and Plugs spend so much time campaigning?
We need to keep hammering them on it, though, because you KNOW the Dems will try to sneak it in, incrementally, in any bill they pass in the next year. We also have to hold their feet to the fire on any 'climate change' legislation. They need to be informed, by showing them the REAL science, that humans have absolutely NO effect on the Global Climate, so any changes we make in our CO2 output is not going to affect it. Upending the Global economy will do nothing but make everyone poorer, except those like Algore, who make money on carbon credit trading.
sniff sniff sniff... ...methinks I smell a little fear from the DNC
*SNORT* Yes in other words if we were winning we’d be saying the exact opposite. Who wants to bet that tomorrow Obama goes back to pumping for healthcare since any Bluedog will have recieved the message loud and clear? That is what the statment from Reid was this afternoon about not setting any “artifical timtables” on healthcare, you know like the 2 or 3 that have already passed?
Bankrupt Al Gore, NO to the Climate Change Bill!
Meaning...the elections are a referendum on Obama
So now they’ll say NY23 was a real indication that the country is behind Obama, or that they reject Sara Palin’s Facebook hate messages, or some variation of the two. As for NJ and VA, they just have to get their message out there a little better. It’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game, but whether you win or lose is a good indication of how you’re playing the game. And we can spin NY23 ‘til the cows come home, but it was a loss.
