Just speculation. Sara won in Alaska going against the establishment but staying a Republican. I think she has the same plan right now unless something drastic happens.

WHAT third party??

Name it!

Is it official? Does it have any politicians in it that are holding office after being elected from within this "third party?

I don't know of it.

Huge mistake if she does. No 3rd party candidate in the history of the republic has ever won. Good chance that Obama would get a second term too.

Beck is presuming we have a two party system. This is ignores the fact the OP(formerly the GOP) has moved incrementally towards socialism with its big tent mentality in order to expand the voter base. The result are choices between socialist Obama against socialist light McCain and socialist Owens against socialist Scozzofava. This illustrates the two parties have become one big socialist Republicrat party. A party based on strong Conservative principles will be the second party.

I’m really not interested in a third party right now. I don’t think that they could get the structure in place in time. And don’t call it the Tea Party Party.

BAD move-it would just mean four more years of Zero. Better to clean all the RINO’s out in 2010 and replace them with Reagan-style conservatives-Palin can then run as a real Republican!

I like Sarah Palin, but I’d rather have her initiate a ‘Come to Jesus’ moment with the Republican Party than run as a third party.

The biggest turn-off about Beck is his constant equating of the two parties. One is evil, the other is not, but has some people that are too comfortable accommodating evil. The GOP is not progressive, although it has way too many progressives and the RNC is controlled by the country-clubbers.

The GOP base is conservative, and at the national level, it has a good number of conservatives. What needs to happen is for a RINO hunt to happen, the way Dede was outed as a Dem. The best way to do that is in primaries where the conservative wins, and then wins the election. That will bring waivering conservatives, the Mike Pence types, in line. Get rid of 20 Rinos in Congress next election, nominate a conservative in 2012, and take back the party. Don't equate it with the Dems, prevent it from becoming like the Dems.

What Beck needs to analyze is the impact of a winner take all system in national races on the process of elections. That system guarantees a 2 party race. It is that simple. We need to do our work to make sure that one of the parties is conservative, not remake American politics. If we try the latter, we will ensure the election of marxists.

If Sarah runs as a third party, I withdraw ALL support from her and will never send her another dime!

Palin never suggested something like this. Beck is over his head on this. What we see in NY is Conservatives sending the GOP a message that we will retake the party. 3rd Party in 2012 is nonsense (yet).

..I thought the GOP was dead last November

Conservatives have been moving toward taking back control since then

Today will be a good indicator of that movement

A third party at this point would be demagoguery not principled politics--Sarah Palin is smarter than that Glenn...

It is time to begin thinking more about the person being considered for public office than for the party.

I dunno about that....imo, running as a GOP is a mark against a candidate in my book, not a good thing.

Tie goes against the GOP.

Unless the GOP nominates another RINO, I hope that we will not be forced to join a third party. Dividing the vote among three presidential candidates would insure reelection of Obama.

Sarah Palin will not be a third party candidate and I'm confident that Beck knows it. There is a growing movement among grassroots Republicans - which is to say, conservatives - to take back the GOP from the squishy moderates and corrupt party "professionals" who have rendered it an impotent minority.

Doug Hoffman's emergence in NY-23 was the first shot across the bow. The strategy is for conservative leaders to let the Washington/New York RINO axis know that they need to lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. In the end, they will not lead, but being preternaturally attracted to power as much as any Democrat, they will follow, and the person they will follow will be Sarah Palin or someone very much like her.

I love Beck and we agree 99.9% of the time, but not on this. He always tell us to “stand up”...it’s about time that we do exactly that and take our party back.

Almost everyone up-thread is telling us how this is a bad move and that Palin should not do it.

Reality check time, people.

If the GOP nominating process is front loaded with liberal states that permit cross-party voting, Palin will not be the candidate.

Repeat. She WILL NOT be the candidate.

So it may be third party, or nothing.
