I imagine the author found what are unintended anti-Obama allegories on his own. “Filling up churches again,” sounds like something the ABC writers would consider a symptom of evil conservatives taking over.

My most vivid recollection of the series from the 80s is that the lizard women, when disguised as humans, were definitely “not guilty.”

They did. Started filming the series in 2008. The original series (which has been airing in marathon mode on SyFy TV) is based on Hitler's Fascist regime, right down to the Visitor symbol that resembles the Swastika. One character in the original 2-part (4.5 hour) movie that started the franchise in 1983 played a Holocaust survivor and he remarked to the younger characters at how similar the Visitor's were to the Nazi's during World War II.

Heh, maybe the writers thought they were being clever, and making a comment about Republicans. That makes the parallels all the more interesting, since they SO perfectly reflect Obama and his gang.
