Barbara Boxer offers olive branch to GOP (Cap & Tax markup boycott)

Environment and Public Works Chairwoman Barbara Boxer tried to extend an olive branch to Republicans on climate change Monday evening, extending a deadline for them to offer amendments to her global warming legislation.

But even as she made new advances, Boxer (D-Calif.) vowed to continue with her controversial mark-up, with or without GOP support.

“Right now it is essential we keep the process moving forward and that’s what we’ll do,” said Boxer.

The seven Republicans on the committee plan to boycott a Tuesday legislative hearing about the bill unless Boxer agrees to wait for additional economic analysis of the bill. As part of their boycott, none of the seven Republicans on the committee offered amendments to the bill by the Monday morning deadline.

Boxer extended the deadline for amendments and invited a representative from the Environmental Protection Agency to answer questions about the bill in a special Tuesday afternoon session of the committee.

“We think this is going the extra mile for our friends on the other side and we really hope they will return to the table,” she said.

Hope the GOP sticks to their guns. Babs obviously doesn't relish the prospect of 'going it alone.'

Don’t anyone be tempted to try and “work” with this witch.

If you turn your back on her she will slit your throat and chew your balls off.

How about this amendment: Please disregard every word in this legislation as political BS and stop trying to “tax everything that moves & doesn’t move” (my new fave Hitlery quote)

Senate ratification of a treaty would require 67 votes, compared with 60 for legislation. ...”

Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma, the top Republican on Boxer’s committee, has vowed to stop the bill, calling it “the largest tax increase in American history” and saying the “razor-thin vote in the House spells doom in the Senate.” ...

Senate Climate Measure Would Give Away Most Pollution Permits

By Simon Lomax and Daniel Whitten

..Senator James Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican who has called human-induced global warming a “hoax,” threatened procedural moves to block the bill from gaining a committee vote. ...

..Inhofe told reporters before the bill was released yesterday [Friday, Oct. 23, 2009] that an insufficient EPA analysis may lead Republicans to skip the committee debate of the bill altogether, denying the Democrats the quorum they would need to send the measure to the Senate floor for consideration. ..

I’m fed up with all these spending bills. There should be legislation to ELIMINATE Federal departments and agencies, not create new ones.

The debate actually is over…and the idea that human emissions of carbon dioxide will cause any significant degree of global warming has been categorically refuted and falsified. The empirically-measured change in the amount of energy radiating away from the Earth as a function of changes in sea surface temperature totally falsifies the IPCC climate models--and more importantly, completely falsifies the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis—total, categorical falsification, not simply invalidation of the alleged "proof" based on computer climate models:

The debate actually is over…

Yes it is. And I wish these flat-earthers who are so arrogant as to believe that humans could significantly impact climate change from carbon emissions would just shut up and go the way of the neanderthals.

I don’t understand why the wusspublicans don’t do more of this. No quorum - no vote. Demand full, deliberate and real debate of the measures on the floor. A 2,000 page bill should be debated for months, seta June 30 vote. if the demholes and the Obama-crime-family resort to their customary deceit and trickery and try to ruch a vote in a matter of days, pubbies shouild stay home. No quorum - no vote. Alas, I’m sure there are enough RINOs in the house to give the OCF their quorum.

Never trust Babs on anything. She is a pure hateful socialist pacifist. Boycott her and let her fume and stew. The Dems have the majority so as we slide into tyranny, blame the Dems for it not the GOP.
