November and winter is now upon us and it is almost frightening to realise it is almost a year ago that the election was held that made us realise that the previous 8 years of President George W Bush time as President was drawing to an end.
Even though it has been about 9 months since George W Bush left office for many it seems another age so much seems to have changed and many things we hold dear now seem to mean nothing.
We miss the class and character that George W Bush, his wife and of course his father and mother portrayed to the American nation and the world.
I hope the following photos will help us remember time of maybe great sadness and challenge for the nation but also a feeling that there was somebody at the helm that was strong, confident and above all put his love for his country and fellow men first and always did and said what he believed to be the right thing to do.

THANKS AGAIN, PRESIDENT BUSH

The Kyoto Protocol went into effect in February 2005. George W. Bush was excoriated by the left for not signing on and acquiescing to the global warming hysteria.
All of us can recall how President Bush was called all sorts of names and accused of wanting to destroy the world. Even some nominal Republicans fell for the “settled science” and got on board the climate change express.
Nonetheless, George Bush remained firm in his refusal to allow the United States to destroy its economy and standard of living for what has now turned out to be a political movement not one based on science.
With the exposure of the global warming hoax through the release of the CRU emails, we should offer a toast to the much maligned President George W. Bush and thank him for not committing the United States to similar disastrous actions that our counterparts in Europe fell for.
The delay allowed the truth to come out as it always does

Didn't the President and First Lady spend their last Thanksgiving at Camp David? Seems like the whole clan came to celebrate with them. What I'm dreading is Christmas and what they do to it. At least they agreed to have a CHRISTMAS tree, rather than a HOLIDAY tree. I wonder if Michelle has planned a lovely presentation of decorations like Lady Laura did (O.K. That's a foolish question). Just hope they don't put some of the things on the tree that the Clintons did.
Instead of the HGTV special we have watched every year, ABC is doing it with OPRAH, and there will be an interview with OBAMA. The decorations will no doubt be a small part.
Probably the tree will be decorated with that stupid O symbol. (Just kidding, but nothing would surprise me. I am not watching it.)
Nor I. I remember reading about (it was never shown that I could find) the Clintons putting condoms on the tree and other “things”. It wouldn't surprise me if the Obamas put Muslim symbols all over this year's tree.

What we know for sure is that whatever Christmas celebrations and decorations are put on @ the WH this year, they won't compare to the loveliness or classiness of the past 8 years.

Thanksgiving Day Proclamation

Nearly half a century ago, President Dwight Eisenhower proclaimed Thanksgiving as a time when Americans should celebrate "the plentiful yield of our soil . . . the beauty of our land . . . the preservation of those ideals of liberty and justice that form the basis of our national life, and the hope of international peace." Now, in the painful aftermath of the September 11 attacks and in the midst of our resolute war on terrorism, President Eisenhower's hopeful words point us to our collective obligation to defend the enduring principles of freedom that form the foundation of our Republic.
During these extraordinary times, we find particular assurance from our Thanksgiving tradition, which reminds us that we, as a people and individually, always have reason to hope and trust in God, despite great adversity. In 1621 in New England, the Pilgrims gave thanks to God, in whom they placed their hope, even though a bitter winter had taken many of their brethren. In the winter of 1777, General George Washington and his army, having just suffered great misfortune, stopped near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, to give thanks to God. And there, in the throes of great difficulty, they found the hope they needed to persevere. That hope in freedom eventually inspired them to victory.
In 1789, President Washington, recollecting the countless blessings for which our new Nation should give thanks, declared the first National Day of Thanksgiving. And decades later, with the Nation embroiled in a bloody civil war, President Abraham Lincoln revived what is now an annual tradition of issuing a presidential proclamation of Thanksgiving. President Lincoln asked God to "heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity, and Union."
As we recover from the terrible tragedies of September 11, Americans of every belief and heritage give thanks to God for the many blessings we enjoy as a free, faithful, and fair-minded land. Let us particularly give thanks for the self-less sacrifices of those who responded in service to others after the terrorist attacks, setting aside their own safety as they reached out to help their neighbors. Let us also give thanks for our leaders at every level who have planned and coordinated the myriad of responses needed to address this unprecedented national crisis. And let us give thanks for the millions of people of faith who have opened their hearts to those in need with love and prayer, bringing us a deeper unity and stronger resolve.
In thankfulness and humility, we acknowledge, especially now, our dependence on One greater than ourselves. On this day of Thanksgiving, let our thanksgiving be revealed in the compassionate support we render to our fellow citizens who are grieving unimaginable loss; and let us reach out with care to those in need of food, shelter, and words of hope. May Almighty God, who is our refuge and our strength in this time of trouble, watch over our homeland, protect us, and grant us patience, resolve, and wisdom in all that is to come.
Quite probably the most noticeable reason is that we were not bombarded daily with the Maoist [aka communist] inundation of images of the “Commander in Chief” as we are today. President Bush, once he won, stopped campaigning. His victories and, indeed, his presidency were not about some bombastic, megalomaniacal ego feeding frenzy.
He was our CEO.

Happy Thanksgiving Dosers!
Sorry I missed yesterday, but a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, Nordie, and to ALL the Dosers!
I invited them to have Christmas dinner with us, and ironically, though I have a lovely set of Villeroy and Boch Christmas china, it is packed and in the trailer that we took to MS last year, in the first leg of our eventual move. Oh well. I have another set of nice dishes that I'd bought for the rest of the year, and it's still here, so we'll use that. Even though there isn't really going to be a wedding rehearsal, Christmas will suffice for the rehearsal dinner that the groom's family normally hosts.
My FABULOUS outfit will be worn at their wedding on Dec. 26th. I'll have to post a picture. ;o)
