November and winter is now upon us and it is almost frightening to realise it is almost a year ago that the election was held that made us realise that the previous 8 years of President George W Bush time as President was drawing to an end.
Even though it has been about 9 months since George W Bush left office for many it seems another age so much seems to have changed and many things we hold dear now seem to mean nothing.
We miss the class and character that George W Bush, his wife and of course his father and mother portrayed to the American nation and the world.
I hope the following photos will help us remember time of maybe great sadness and challenge for the nation but also a feeling that there was somebody at the helm that was strong, confident and above all put his love for his country and fellow men first and always did and said what he believed to be the right thing to do.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
But there's something about these photos on the screen that makes them come alive, isn't there?
I hope we get visitors too. It's definitely unsafe "out there" with all the vile haters. They would be horrible with this kind of tribute. They don't GET it.
(Thanks, Dolly!)
Indeed, we do, FWI! Indeed we do!
Hi, MEG! (And you’re welcome!)
If America knew. IF they only knew.....
Yes! I LOVE my printed copy best, of course, but it is really fun to see it on the screen (and know that lots of us can enjoy it!).
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for posting your beautiful anniversary tribute to OUR beloved First Couple, George and Laura Bush . . . I can’t wait to see them both next week!
LOL! I agree with you Miss Marple, on all counts!
What a terrific tribute to a lovely, and loving, couple!
Say HI to them from me, OK? And tell them I wished them the most romantic of all anniversaries. :)
I've been on the tragic Ft Hood thread, so it was a blessing to come back here to something pleasant.
We SO MUCH need to have George W. Bush as our Commander in Chief right now. May God protect us from without and within.......including from the enemy in the White House!
thanks for this tonite. The tragedy at Ft. Hood has unsettled me very much and this helped sooth the frayed edges.
I'm afraid the joy of celebrating the President's and First Lady's anniversary got swallowed up in the deep grief and fear of today's events.
How much I wish we had President Bush at the helm right now. I am really concerned for the safety of our troops, and this country without him.
Obama's flippant remarks at the Conference he was attending, before even acknowledging the tragedy, just pointed up the fact that the adults are no longer in charge in our Country. That truly frightens me.
Beautiful tribute, it keeps me smiling. Thank for the lovely break.
These are truly troubling and dangerous times for this great country.
A break turned out to be even more important than I thought after yesterday's events.
May God have mercy on America, and may we, as her citizens stand for what is right and good.
Oops, I initially posted this on the ‘old’ DOSE thread.

George W. Bush visits Fort Hood, wounded soldiers
FORT HOOD, Texas Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.
The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."
An Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 30 in a shooting rampage Thursday at a Soldier Readiness Processing Center on the post.
Hasan was wounded by a civilian police officer and was taken into custody. You might enjoy this FR thread:

Many nice pro-GWB comments. His class and dignity cannot be denied! :)
