m certainly happy to be a modern woman. The possibilities are numerous career choices, children, freedom. Life is good.
American women have all these things, yet there is a notable lack of women, both Democrat and Republican, in national political office. Why? Well, the job is demanding as hell and requires extended periods of separation, for one. Another reason: Ill call it Sarah Palin Syndrome. Women, especially conservative women, are chewed up by the media. (This also happens to women bloggers. Related thoughts here.)
Leftist feminists feel that conservative women disparage the very things feminists work for while enjoying the benefits of that work. Equality in the workplace, more equitable task distribution at home (still havent figured out how to outsource breastfeeding, but I digress), and more respect for women generally all triumphs of the womens movement have benefited all Western women. It should be noted that many cultures do not enjoy this equitable dynamic....

“Leftist feminists...”
Oxymoron...see Sarah Palin treatment...
“Leftist feminists feel that conservative women disparage the very things feminists work for while enjoying the benefits of that work. Equality in the workplace,”
Yeah, well I think Palin shot that all to hell ;-)
Yeah, well I think Palin shot that all to hell ;-) And without riding in on her husbands coattails or inherited money...they were true feminists, they would be putting her in office...they are so jealous of her they are blind...
Yeah, from the hip!! >:-}
Can anyone explain to me what's wrong with serious challenges in the primaries? I thought that's what primaries are for. Isn't it better to fight the primaries, than to split the vote in the actual election?
What has the Newt had to say about the end of the Scuzzyawful campaigm<
“Yeah, from the hip!! >:-} “
Yeah....have a great weekend my FRiend!
make that “campaign?”, please.
I believe there are more women on the ‘social’ networks because they’re more about yacking.
On political forums, it’s more about discussing or even arguing political points. You have to have a thick hide to participate in that environment. You’re going to get insulted and have to push back.
I may be wrong, but it’s my take most women don’t like that type of environment. They won’t put up with the heated debates.
Notice the reference to being able to block people you don’t want to talk to. Good grief, if we set that up here we’d each be talking to a very limited segment of the forum’s participants.
I may not agree with others, but I do want to see what they are saying, and respond. I very seldom ask someone to not post to me. In the eleven years I’ve been here, I’ve probably made such a request of less than five people. Strangely enough, I know at least of few of them are no longer here.
I was about to post that it would be interesting to see what the ratio is here, women to men. No, I don’t think that is important. What is important is that people who are of strong will show up here and push their beliefs, as long as they are honestly trying to advance Conservatism.
Frankly, when I respond to people here, I don’t really care if they are a man or a woman. If they’ve got a voice, that’s all that matters to me.
“Leftist feminists feel that conservative women disparage the very things feminists work for “
Yea like making unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.
Yes. Keep it quiet though, the RP leadership is in a bubble, and we wouldn’t want to pop it.
Thanks, you have a great weekend, too!
Rush’s mantra for 21 1/2 years ;-)
The Newt has become a bad joke in my book of bad political jokes. But, you can count on his having some unworldly explanation for his lack of acumen in this case. My explanation, however, is that he is just another good/bad example of the incompetent and unprincipled leadership of the GOP(Need I mention Michael Steele?).
What has the Newt had to say about the end of the Scuzzyawful campaign?
In his senior statesman wisdom, Newt has pontificated thus:
“I Am Endorsing Doug Hoffman
Scozzafava did the statesmanlike thing in dropping out.
Clearly the race has evolved into a contest between a conservative and a pro-Pelosi, tax increase, big government liberal Democrat.
This is both a tribute to the power of the national conservative movement to define an issue and a commentary on the populist anger against politics-as-usual.
The New York GOP has now had two troubled special elections and it is clear they should go to a primary nominating system so everyone will feel it was fair and open.
The age of party leaders picking people is over.
I am endorsing Doug Hoffman and believe everyone who wants to create jobs with lower taxes and to control spending and deficits should vote for Doug Hoffman Tuesday.”

Quite a switch in less than six days from: This idea that were suddenly going to establish litmus tests and all across the country were going to purge the party of anybody who doesnt agree with us 100 percent; that guarantees Obamas reelection, that guarantees Pelosi as Speaker-for-life . . . http://adambitely.com/2009/10/27/gingrich-support-for-hoffman-a-purge/
Go away Newt. You blew your brains out, and are dead. You are still walking and talking, but you are a ghost now and henceforth.
The staunch Republican herself said:
“In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be. The reality that I’ve come to accept is that in today’s political arena, you must be able to back up your message with moneyand as I’ve been outspent on both sides, I’ve been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record, she said in a statement.
It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican.

The Republican Party will win on conservative ideas, not on skin color or gender. Let the Democrats tie themselves up with their identity politics. The Republican Party can do better.
Well said.
However, I deg to biffer that "Equality in the workplace, more equitable task distribution at home ... and more respect for women generally [are] all triumphs of the womens movement."
No, they are all the result of tolerant gentlemen.
All women are always at the mercy of men; they have always been so and will always be so. That women in the West typically aren't even aware of this law of nature and God, is testimony to the worth of the Judeo-Christian ethic and the good Gentlemen who have lived it for hundreds of generations.
I'm a woman who understands that men are the sole defenders of women. Any "rights" we have have been ensured and delivered by God through men.
She didn’t remove her name from the ballot. She could still get a sympathy vote, a backlash from all the garbage being spouted. Be careful, politics can be unpredictable.
