In response to the NY-23 news, Rush Limbaugh tells me:
Hmmm... I thought the Era of Reagan was over? Who was it that said that? Oh yeah, the smart people on our side who told us the only way we could win was with moderate/liberal candidates like Scozzafava. Hmmm...
BFD
Exactly!
Anyone who knows Todd Palin, including Sarah, knows he is anything but a "house husband". They are a team and she worked hard with him in a fishing company that they owned, and now he is helping her. Nothing wrong with that in the least. I would do the same for my wife of 31+ years.
Her support of special needs children is not "her" issue. It is an issue she understands because of her circumstances, but one shared by millions of Americans. To try and paint this as her doing something for herself is beyond reproach.
She accepted a nomination by John McCain for the Vice Presidency, which put her on the national stage. She was as loyal to him as she could be but there is no doubt that there were numerous issues on which they did not agree (thye alluded to them themselves on a nunmebr of occassions). I voted for that ticket 1) Because she was on it, and 2) To try and stop Obama.
She ran the National Guard there in Alaska and by all accounts was liked and respected by the officers and rank and file because of her attitude towards them and their own family's commitment. I know she would do immeasurably better than what we have now, and my guess is she would surround herself with people, and place General's in charge who know their business and then follow their advise.
You clearly have a skewed opinion of Sarah that jives with the liberal mantra of her. I urge you to reconsider. I know you have been around here a long time supporting conservative causes...so I do not discount your statements out of hand out of respect for that.
But I also know people close to them and know that what you are saying about her is simply not true. Your agenda (probably for another conservative candidate), IMHO, is skewing your perception IMHO.
This cannot be said often enough. One group that investigates primaries and puts money into them is the Club for Growth. They have dislodged a number of rinos this way over the years.

There was no primary in this NY race.
That man(Carville) is ugly inside and out.
Is the following conservative or NOT conservative?
Oct. 24, 2008:
In her first policy address since joining the Republican ticket, Sarah Palin called for parents of special needs children to use federal funding to pick the school of their choice...
Palin also called for full federal funding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, phasing in an additional $15 billion in funding over five years.
"I GOT BETTER."
"In a McCain/Palin administration, were gonna put the educational choices for special needs children in the right hands, in the hands of the parents and the good responsible caretakers.
"Under reforms that I will lead as vice president, the parents and caretakers of children with physical or mental disabilities will be able to send that boy or girl to the school of their choice, public or private.
At the same time, Palin did call for full federal funding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), phasing in an additional $15 billion in funding over five years. She said funds could be found by reprioritizing the federal budget and ending earmarks.
Under IDEA, signed by President Ford in 1975, the federal government was responsible for 40 percent of special needs education. But that mandate was never met. Palins proposal would have increased the federal commitment by $3 billion a year over five years, for an eventual total of $26 billion.
I'd rather see that money, in the interim, spent by parents making informed choices and in control of their kids education than by liberals.
Now, I personally am not for federal funding of education at all, but I do believe that parents should be in the driver's seat for their children, and we have been pushing for vouchers for a long time, to allow parents to use their local and state school tax monies to allow their kids to go to the school of their choice.
There is a boat load of federal tax monies being spent on education now, like it or not (and I do not)...where the feds are matching funds gathered in the states. That needs to end.
If, in the interim, we allow parents to spend that money themselves, instead of the NEA and politicians, that is a good step in that direction.
It'sd not so cut and dried as you try and make it appear, and again, I believe this is because your own impression, attitude, and opinion of Sarah is skewed by other candidates you would rather see there who likely have their own faults.
At any rate, despite my own desire and goal to see the Federal Education Department abolished and all federal taxation for education ended, and to see the local programs put in the hands of the parents where there can be private competetion...I support Sarah. I believe she wants to see less government interference and is making proposals that will move us in that direction.
Growing up, I always heard the phrase, “You help people that Can’t help themselves, not people that Won’t help themselves”.
Nowadays, that is a dated philosophy and the Country is worse off for it.
We welcome their vote....but none of their BS!
Text of Sarah Palin's Speech on Advocating for Children With Special Needs
And today, we'll talk about three policy proposals that are going to help us fulfill our country's commitment to these children: more choices for parents, fully funding IDEA...
Under our reforms, federal funding for every special needs child will follow that child...
That's why John and I will direct the Department of Education to clarify the statute administratively. We'll make explicit that when state funds are portable, federal funds are fully portable. We're going to make sure parents have choices and children receive the education they deserve...
The IDEA is also intended to serve teens and young adults with special needs. And here, too, there is an opportunity to reform and extend the reach of federal support under the IDEA...
You back whom you must. I will do the same. Time will tell.
I've explained my reasoning and rational. You continue hammering on yours. It is getting circular now and it is clear that we are not likely to agree on it at this point in time.
Just clarifying the facts. Feminists are not conservative:
It is an honor to call her a sister. . . America, this is what a feminist looks like.

I was looking at Shellys resume before I came out here and I thought Woo, theres some diversity! I like this, its good. And, because, maybe this is the only time that I would get an endorsement like this, or an introduction, Ive gotta share with you, its like kinda providential, yesterday what happened to me, I can use this today after that introduction from Shelly, Im readin on my Starbucks mocha cup, okay, the quote of the day? Youll never believe what the quote was. It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State, and U.N. Ambassador. And Madeleine has as her quote of the day for Starbucks now she said it, I didnt she said, Theres a place in hell for women who dont support other women.
Okay, now thank you so much for receiving that well. I didt know how that was gonna go over. And now, California, lets see, what a comment like I just made, how that is turned into whatever itll be turned into tomorrow in the newspaper.
(According to CBS News Scott Conroy, Palin got the quote slightly wrong. Albright actually said, There is a place in hell reserved for women who dont help other women.)

A People magazine writer asked, “So will your husband be on leave now indefinitely to be Mr. Mom?” Sarah responded, “I would say so, yes.”
