Gingrich endorses Hoffman Posted: October 31st, 2009 01:04 PM ET
From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston
WASHINGTON (CNN) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week's special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.
Gingrich made the announcement via Twitter shortly after the Republican Party nominee Scozzafava announced she was releasing supporters from their commitment to back her.
"Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman," Gingrich wrote on Twitter. (Tweet shown as it appeared)

Actually Fred Thompson was first, but who’s countng.
I’ll always remember him as the anti-gun backstabber of the Clinton gun ban era!
“Too late Newt. You had a clear choice, and you made the wrong one.”
Such a great statement .. it had to be repeated.
I was totally disgusted when Newt went on Fox and said WE were making a BIG mistake.
I don’t think Newt needs to make any plans to run for president any time soon.
Mojave is a liar. He's paid to do it.
Judas Iscariot was a leader of Christ's Apostles. That didn't get him much of a pass. Turncoats are never loved by those they cross.
We are either taking this party back or we are leaving. Right now we are leaving!!! GO CONSERVATIVE PARTY!!! Millions are ready to dump these baby killing ,pervert loving . open border bastards into the bin of history!!! YES!! WE want our country back and we are NATIONALISTS!!!!!
Yes, he was the first. In one of Doug’s interviews, he mentioned Fred’s endorsement - and he has him the first one on his endorsement list. I have no doubt Fred’s endorsement was a huge encouragement to him, when at that time, no one knew about Doug and what he was up against.
"Doug Hoffman took an oath to Republican voters to support the Republican nominee in our district, but his pledge has gone unfulfilled." --Madison County GOP Chairwoman Therese Wiley Dancks and Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman John Becker
Do I know you?
Give it up, creep. You don’t have the pledge.
Truth trumps lie.
“Doug Hoffman looked me in the eyes, raised his right hand and pledged to support the Republican nominee in this district. He then turned around and declared his candidacy for this seat, rendering his oath utterly meaningless. Doug Hoffman lacks the basic integrity we need in our Congressional Representative.” — Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman Don Coon
That's what makes you the loser.
Show the pledge.
NOT claims about the pledge.
Show the pledge, you frickin idiotic paid-to-shill laughing-stock fool from hell.
Too late Newt, you came in after the zot.
To save his behind? Please Newt, Retire and go sell insurance somewhere.
DOUG DOESN’T WANT OR NEED YOUR ENDORSEMENT!!
Looks like a guy who might be living in a van down by the river...
I guess it’s better to have been a “has been”, than a “never been”.
Mr. Speaker, thank you for your service to our Country. Now, please, go golfing or something.
Newt want to run for president. His "move to the center has been one awkward misfire after another. First he sits on the sofa with a tyrant Pelosi. Then he refuses (prior to the election) to attack Obama - although he now admits he was wrong about him. Now, he backs a left wing Republican. All bad moves which only served to make conservatives ever more wary of him.
More importantly his sense of the attitudes of the American voter is atrocious. Newt moves leftward at the very time the American voter is moving to the right.
Perhaps Newt should stop taking political advice from his wife.
Flee the facts.
You forgot cross-eyed. Pawlenty has the physical appeal of Barney Fife.
