One time when I was in my early twenties, I was in a mexican bar...one where only americans were drinking. When the bar closed, we found that a mexican cop had run a rope accross the exit of the bar parking lot and claimed all were parked illegally and they must pay a fine to get out of the parking lot. $10 bucks cash, iirc.
Me and my buddies were drunk and invincible. So naturally we told the cop to * off, and we tore down his rope and left.
I don’t know if we were lucky or what. But the cop didn’t chase after us.
Ah yes, mordida! My husbands uncle died of a heart attack in Mexico. Every body in the City of Cozumel had to be paid off before we could get his body back to the US for burial.
