One time when I was in my early twenties, I was in a mexican bar...one where only americans were drinking. When the bar closed, we found that a mexican cop had run a rope accross the exit of the bar parking lot and claimed all were parked illegally and they must pay a fine to get out of the parking lot. $10 bucks cash, iirc.

Me and my buddies were drunk and invincible. So naturally we told the cop to * off, and we tore down his rope and left.

I don’t know if we were lucky or what. But the cop didn’t chase after us.

Your story reminds me of the Texas father who went to Mexico to look for his daughter who ‘disappeared’ one night down there visiting friends. The US government did nothing to help. The Mexicans were even worse. Weeks after her disappearance, the father found her car....in the lockup at the local police station.
