SACRAMENTO, Calif. Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, a fixture in state and national politics for 35 years, is expected to maintain the Democratic Party's hold Tuesday on a congressional seat that stretches from the eastern San Francisco Bay area through the California delta.
<snip>
Garamendi's Republican opponent, David Harmer, has been campaigning against excessive government spending. It's unclear how widely that theme will resonate in a congressional district that supported Barack Obama with nearly 65 percent of the vote in last year's presidential race.
(Excerpt) Read more at google.com ...
They have a district which went 65% for a Democrat last year, but had a race polling with margins in single digits (low single digits at one point).
And the Democrat in this race has won statewide elections in the past (at least twice). Still he is barely eeking out a victory, and it has taken campaign support from Bill Clinton, Barrck Obama, and a final week major television advertising campaign from the DCCC to push him to a "slight edge" in this race.
I am also contacting the NRCC to ask why they are supporting Scozzafava in the race in upstate New York, and why they are ignoring David Harmer in this close race in California’s 10th district. Here are the numbers if anyone else wants to call:

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

You mean having the state populated by MOONBATS isn’t edge enough?
The challenger is this race (the GOP candidate) was interviewed in the last 30 minutes of Mark Levin’s show Friday.
He said that polling shows he is within TWO percent.

Plain and simple. California will get what it deserves. The state is a mess. It Senators and the majority of House members comprise some of the most ardent liberals in all of Congress. If the voters in this district want more of the same, screw them.
California never will learn. Within a few short years, or months, the state will begin to look like New Jersey.
When people lose the ability to utilize cause and effect, they lose the ability to fix something that is broke. States dominated by liberals are almost universally failing, but for some reason the residents just don’t get the connection.
I know. The "evil rich" who pay most of the bills will simply continue to move to greener pastures.
Looks like the Californians will continue to bang their heads against the wall despite the many bruises they’ve already given themselves.
We aren’t rich but we left California in September after 19 years. It simply became inhospitable to people who want to enjoy the fruits of their labor, whatever ‘class’ they are in.
Garamendi for the 35 years has helped destroy California. You would think these morons could connect the dots.
The GOP blew this. A lot of people in that district must be finally waking up but maybe not. Rush and Beck should have also chimed in.
Personally, I think republican should stop running. Why go through the farce of pretending they have a chance, make it obvious to everyone going to the polls and have it talked about all across the country. Next step should be the red areas of California petitioning the government for a break up of the state.
How was CA “inhospitable” to you? Just curious.
I have had a small business for the last 25 years with 8 to 10 employees and while I’m not rich, I am comfortable enough. I don’t like a lot of the laws, the tax rate, etc., but there has been nothing coming from the state that would make me want to leave.
I'm not so sure that's the reason. I think that it is because of two things:
First, that dem controlled areas tend to bring in and and create more and more useless people who see government as their savior, or people who are getting fat from the government trough, and at the same time, they so punish responsible, productive people, that those people move out of that state.
Second, once they have control of a state or municipality, their corruption of campaign financing, media coverage, and widespread vote fraud almost guarantees that the people who want to vote them out, have virtually no chance of doing so.
Living in NJ, I see this first-hand. Everyone whines about the taxes, but then they go out and keep voting for dems. After a while, you resign yourself to putting up with it until you can move someplace else.
Stop believing the propaganda. Californian in the last year passed a “defense of marriage” proposition and rejected four tax increase propositions by 2:1 margins.
This is a gerrymandered district so Garamendi might eek out a victory, but anything less than what Zero got one year ago should be seen as increased dissatisfaction with Democrat policies.
I have said that before about certain areas... What will the press report and how will they give their convoluted endorsements?
California is far worse than NJ. It is finished. CA is the canary in the coal mine. Demographically, the US will look like CA by 2050.
And let’s not forget that we have instituted term limits, which denied Fabio Nunez and Don Perata further opportunity to screw us and enrich themselves.
Hopefully the water issues will garner enough angry farmer and farm workers votes to make the difference.
What can you say to people that say, “tax me more?”
Unfortunately, they think tax “someone else more.”
