Golf, too? If there was one sport you'd think might be immune from the liberal slant that has invaded too much of sports reporting, it's golf. The fairways-and-greens guys are known for generally being Republicans.
But out of the blue [green?] on a Golf Channel show this afternoon, host Brandel Chamblee took a cheap shot at Dick Cheney with a rather nasty hunting reference.
Chamblee, who before retiring from the PGA Tour had one win in 370 career starts, was discussing with co-host Rich Lerner the putting woes of the affable Jason Gore . . .

My new least-favorite golf announcer ping to Today show list.
Ya know, when you accidentally shoot your hunting buddy in the face, you’re never going to live it down.
How’d your radio gig go earlier today?
Actually I think thats funny. Can’t afford to be insulted by every joke.
Even Dick Cheney would think it funny.
He will never live it down and has been a good sport about it.
Save FNC, Discovery and NATGEO, I have no use for TV anymore.
Even the History Channel is an Obamanista network.
Lucky for me, nothing close enough to break the skin.
Agree on both counts.
It is funny. That being said, is there anything left without the political drivel being attached to it?
“Howd your radio gig go earlier today?”
Thanks for asking. Thought the appearance on the Joe Scarborough-Mika Brzezinski radio show went well. Here’s the audio:

Never liked him...and I don’t have that reaction to many golfers...he’s operating behind enemy lines...if he said that in one of my foursomes he’d be looking for another game...plus, he has to go through life with a name like Brandel, he’s bound to be a little twisted...
Lighten up, it’s actually funny.
If the shooting had been fatal or disabling... different story.
“Oh, Newsbusters. Lighten up :-)”
To you and others who have expressed similar thoughts: I hear you, but it would be nice if there were one little corner of the media immune from this kind of stuff.
There were only really two partisan cracks that I can remember during the entire run of Stargate: SG-1. One of them was along these lines. An alien was loose in the woods and a bunch of rednecks were hunting it, firing at anything that moved. Cue this dialog:
Landry: I told you, the last thing we need is for this place to turn into the OK Corral.
Mitchell: Or a Vice Presidential bird hunt.
The stupid thing about it was, the president and vp are fictional in the Stargate universe!
Anyway, this is a pretty mild comment and would maybe make a conservative just groan or maybe even give a little smile if it wasn’t for the hyper partisan climate we live in. I’m not saying you’re overreacting. I’m saying we’re attacked so much in the media and popular culture that even the mild comments sting.
I do too. I've heard other jokes about who to send along with Dick on Dick's next hunting trips. Right now, I'm thinking NEWT.
One of my brothers trains labs for hunting. Whenever he takes someone hunting him for the first time, the first and last words he says to them is "and don't shoot my dogs". Years ago, one of our best friends shot one of his dogs. Although the dog survived, we take great pleasure in retelling the story every time we see him.
