The very same old GOP old hands opted for insider Jim Tedisco over Betty Little in that race and Tedisco got beaten, hindsight suggested Little would have won hands down. And, interesting enough, up pops Tom Reynolds to comment, again. It's argued that instead of any genuine insight into politics on the ground these days, they didn't want to repeat the Tedisco mistake, judged it based upon purely out-dated male/female lines and were going to go with a female no matter what.
And if my information is correct, given that much of what I was given checks out, we can thank the DC GOP and the same old insider Republican hands and firms for giving us the unnecessary split and fiasco that has now become NY - 23, where the NRCC is fervently working against conservatives to save it's behind by trying to avoid a disaster akin to Tedisco, the very thing they sought to avoid in their perhaps misguided wisdom in the first place. It doesn't seem unreasonable to suggest it's all about simply not doing their job by deferring to the real people on the real ground in NY, not some old Republican hand who they assume knows better than the process and them.
How special is that? Welcome to the need for new thinking and a need to embrace the openness driven by a new media age, GOP - you can become a part of it, or continue to be its victim for as long as you want. We'll wait. But I can't guarantee for how long. Patience among the grassroots seems to be running out and they are speaking up, too loudly for you ever shut down, as they have a vehicle to do it you've, unfortunately, not yet effectively learned to use at its best.

The NRCC continues its war on conservatives, because of the old guard Republicans who run the national apparatus!
Pull them out with pitchforks and toss them in the moat, or prepare to lose the GOP entirely!
I like your idea. Pitchforks and moats sounds about right.
In 1952, it was the Taft Republicans that were the old Guard. Now, unfortunately, it is the Eisenhower Republicans.
Yep. We don’t need to toss the entire GOP, just some of it and we have to make it conservative.
As an insider, I can tell this author that what is going on in New York’s 23rd is the same thing that went on in the 20th when the GOP lost TWICE, first with Sandy Treadwell then again with Tedisco.
The problem? His name is JASPER NOLAN - the 80 year old self described Saratoga County “chairman for Life”.
It’s a story about Nolan being chairman for 20 years, getting jobs for 100 people and having those people on his county committee. If they oppose him he threatens their jobs at the county.
He unilaterally chose both Treadwell (a very liberal RINO) and Tedisco without any community or grassroots involvement.
Treadwell lost huge in this very Repbulican District and Tedisco lost because Nolan’s political machine has been withering on the vine for the past 5-10 years.
Nolan has fought change as have many of the very old county party chairs around the state.
The Dems are recruiting activists and beat the GOP on the ground and by using the latest technology and inspiring a youthfyul folowing.
at 80 years old Jasper Nolan is more interested in Bingo games at the Elks than listening to young whipper snappers.
The typical state GOP meeting of the elder chairmen looks more like a WWII reunion than an energetic youthful political movement or party.
Ed Cox, since becomeing state GOP chair has run and hid and appears to be doing nothing to rejuvenate this old out of touch party.
So what has happened? The Tea Party movement has been waiting in the wings and has finally said to local chairmen and the NRC that they will not take this slow motion trainwreck called the GOP any longer and have taken matters into their own hands.
Forward thinking Republicans are supporting this effort because it’s the right way to rebuild this old out of touch party of McCain, Dole, Jasper Nolan, etc.
Thank goodness for Palin, Bachmann, and ALL the rest of the folks who’s party left them as it will be these principled conservative republicans who will be at the forefront of the rebuilding and purging process.
I think we can safely add “Gingrich” to your list of old out-of-touch Republicans. And Steele as well...
yep, gingrich is the past.
“In 1952, it was the Taft Republicans that were the old Guard. Now, unfortunately, it is the Eisenhower Republicans.”
Patience .....soon the Old Guard will be Reagen Republicans and we are many.
Note to any Republican party bosses out there: Real Republicans are not bean counters. We do not care about a person’s race or gender, and we will not insist on a minority or chick candidate just because. We care about ideology. What does the candidate stand for? I myself voted for Lynn Swann for Governor of PA, and I will vote for a woman, man, black, white, hispanic, physically challenged, or straight white male as long as they are a true conservative.
I think all the leaders of the RNC, NRCC and SRCC need to change. They are incompetent with a capital i. We also need to fire about 20 people deep in all of those committees.
It is one thing to pick the wrong candidate in a district. It is another thing entirely to pour money down the toilet trying to salvage your pride. Their chosen candidate will end up #3 in that race. That money could have been put into the CA-10 special election. Harmer might win without them. Could very well have won with them. At least the Dems would have to spend more money to hold that district. These people running the GOP are worthless field generals. They are losing the war. They should be fired or shot and fired is the only real option.
“Exclusive: How The NRCC Bungled NY - 23”
Exclusive? getting a bit carried away with yourself aren’t sir?
pong for later...
i wanna know how they screwed up so bad
Uh, not that I haven't argued with TQC myself a few times, but that is the title of the original article.
We've argued before? I've been in so many, I can't keep track!
