Newton is right actually. It IS a purge.
A purge of not of a moderate but of a liberal democrat who runs as a Republican (and Acornist Working Family’s marxist).
You are *** damn right I apply a “litmus test” to being a Republican Newt. A simple one, agree with conservative position on an issue ‘at least’ 51-60% of the time. You can’t even do that you’re in the wrong party, period. Dede Scuzzobama and Olympia Snowe aren’t welcome in my party anymore than a burglar is welcome in my home.
Newt is doing the MSM’s job for it on this race. His parroting exactly what NYTimes writers are saying and will continue to say. Feeding the beast and hurting the party in the guise of helping it.
And Newt? Partial Birth Abortion is not “in step” with I don’t think ANY district, a supermajority of Americans think it’s vile.
Newt: “So I say to many conservative friends who suddenly decided whether they’re from Minnesota, or Alaska, or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans ? I don’t think so,”
Upstate New York Republican voters DID NOT GET a choice Newt. Do I think I “know more” than the handful of county bosses that appointed Dede not to mention yourself? I don’t think I do, I know I do, and I find that depressing. You were the architect of the 94 revolution, you should not be so stupid. Now do everyone a favor and shut up and go away before you make it impossible for any conservative Republican to ever remember anything good about you.
The problem here is Gingrich is attempting to adapt a rodent play, and it won’t work for us. First of all, he’s presuming a leftist fits this district. It’s not a leftist district. That’s the screw up #1. Secondly, let’s presume it is a leftist district and we win with an ultraleft RINO. There’s no guarantee that said RINO will even vote for a GOP Speaker (Gingrich has already forgotten he had to abdicate because there might’ve been enough RINOs in the 1999-2000 Congress that would’ve voted for another individual, putting at risk the Dems winning the Speakership by a plurality). And also the RINO won’t vote for most of our legislation. So, again, you’ve failed to accomplish anything other than electing a person opposed to (in Scozzafava’s case) 85% of the GOP agenda.
But how does it conversely work for the Dems ? Because said “Moderate/Conservative” Dems running in GOP districts are, in fact, lying about being Conservative. As soon as they win, they vote for Pelosi (no Dem has opposed Pelosi for Speaker yet — she even got Dems that refused to vote for Gephardt in prior Congresses, and Gephardt was more moderate), so that disqualifies them as Conservative. And then the bulk of them tend to support the liberal-left Dem agenda no less than 65-70% of the time (for the most moderate) and 90% for most of the rest (if not 100% in some cases - such as the rabid Stalinist Joe Sestak in PA who represents a Republican district).
So in conclusion, “Conservative Democrats” vote liberal and liberal RINOs vote, well, liberal. What do REAL Conservatives get out of this ? To quote Edwin Starr in his song “War”, ‘Absolutely Nothing, Huh !”
He’s really gone around the bend, hasn’t he.
I’m getting fed up with Newt. Now that he’s getting on a wacko bus with Howard Dean, perhaps his new name should be Newt-and-Improved Green-Grintch.
