Is there anyone that doesn't think this is going to happen? Nice analysis of the worst president in American History.

There is one main reason that the Camp David Peace process succeeded, and it wasn't Jimmy Carter. The key component was that the real players were old men tired of fighting each other. Momma always said it takes two to fight. It also take two to find peace.
That is why peace with the Palestinians has failed so miserably. Israel is tired of fighting and is trying to negociate with people that aren't. Every round of concessions has degraded the security and safety of Israelis.

I was just discussing this with my father today. If we see it there is no doubt that the current crop of hostiles see it as well.

Where was BO during the Carter years? No American who lived through them would want to see a repeat of them.

Obama appears to be resurrecting the Carter formula of speaking out strongly but carrying a small stick.A black man with a small stick?
I was always told that wasn't possible.

—as I recall the expression on Begin’s face during that first handshake photo-op, you may be right.
I find it ironic that after this “achievement”, still considered the centerpiece of Carter’s presidency, Sadat and Begin’s political heir were murdered by their own people...because of it. And the situation is even more problematic than before.

All I remember about those years was the high interest rates and lines at the gas pump

I joined the Army in 1979. No money for training. Not even range time. Yep, I was in Germany then. "Training" amounted to sitting in the woods freezing our asses off.
(Which is still better than Obama's "war fighting" which amounts to sitting in the mountains of Afghanistan getting their asses SHOT off!)

I remember the gas lines also. On Saturdays it was like hitting he lottery to find a gas station open.
Was living in So. Fla. at the time and remember the impact on recreational boating as one marina after another had to shut off their fuel pumps.
The only upside was if you were lucky enough to find gas you could be the the only boat on a normally crowded fishing hole.
