...or especially a McCainiac...
CG has very complimentary pictures of McCain on her FR profile page.
The logical conclusion here is that she is, at best, a McCain supporter, and at worst, a McCainiac.
Conservatives can stay out of trouble in most instances by NOT focusing exclusively on the personality and appeal of ANY politician or candidate, but examining in depth their positions on the critical issues that face us as individual Americans and collectively as a Nation. Too many lost souls allow themselves to be entranced by one character trait or another which at best leaves them open to a naive interpretation of their hero's actions, or at the worst, turns them into one more mindless zombie drinking whatever flavor of KoolAid is being served up by the object of their political affections and/or their organization/party.
Democrats err, Communists are infamous for this sort of crap, with an Americanized version of the 'cult of the personality', witness the idol worship of the The Kenyan Usurper (TKU), the little kiddies singing songs of praise to der 0bumher, the gushing of the media know-nothing/talking heads, no different and I emphasize absolutely no different than the idol worship that was encouraged by past fascist regimes such as Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, Stalin's Soviet Union, Communist China's Mao tse Tung, and of course we can't forget about those farm league Commies, Kim il Sung and his demonic offspring Kim Jong Il, likewise for that little bearded bastard Ho Chi Minh in North Vietnam.
In every Communist society, the 'Dear Leader' can not only do no wrong, they must not and CANNOT be questioned. Their words and deeds must be accepted unconditionally and wholeheartedly supported by the proletariat (that's us ignorant peasants). And that's exactly what the 0bamunist regime is demanding from the media, and from all of us.
But what a surprise! The Collaborator John McCain is on record as saying that America has "nothing to fear from an 0bama Administration", kinda like the French had nothing to fear from the vassal Vichy regime, which served as Hitler's sockpuppet during World War II. McCain has lost his marbles and is now painfully (for us!) transferring his misplaced affections that used to be reserved for his North Vietnamese Communist captors to the 'new' aspiring Communist captor for all of America, none other than the 'Dear Comrade' Barack Hussein 0bama.
McCain is utterly unbalanced and unstable. No conservative with a lick of sense should so much as give him the time of day. He took a dive last November, and we all know it.
A pox upon him and all of his deluded supporters.

Years ago we had a Welcome Newcomers thread with tips on posting and links to the HTML Sandbox, Freeper Lexicon and various other tools to help newcomers become acquainted with the community. Alamo-girl was the official hostess, I believe. It was a great way for newbies to get their feet wet and introduce themselves before venturing out into the FR wilderness. Perhaps we could revive that (not volunteering you, Alamo-girl - just pinging you because you were mentioned).
I'll gladly be on the welcoming committee and will be the keeper of the Welcome Ping list if no one else has volunteered.

Maybe you need some type of way to alert people that someone is a new user Run your cursor over their name. It will show you their sign up date. For instance, mine shows that I have been here exactly 10 years and one day. :)

Freepathons aint bringin in the cash like they used to, Eh?As I pointed out to Jimrob yesterday: 'I just checked how we were doing three months ago today. We only had 36% of the 80,000 total in (didnt include monthlies at that point of course).' At that point we were up to 78% (with the monthlies).
Snarky comments work better when you have your facts straight.

learning to virtually genuflect in the presence of FReepers of the Classes of 1997-2000 and practicing in front of a mirror (proof such as a video of said practice would be required) and an informal curtsy with the salutation of Greetings, your Royal Highness, would fill the third month.Hey, I like it!!

How about a 10-post moratorium before one can post their own thread/link to their blog? I like to link to other blogs here (MM, TAH, etc), but not to mine. That being said, anyone who exclusively pimps their own blog (and of course, you’ll have a much better feel for that than the average poster) can and should get the ZOT.

There's a reason I am not here as much as I used to be.
I decided that I didn't want to spend hours arguing with people who were, no matter what, determined to drive me off this board. It was a pointless exercise in time-wasting. I am found on only a few threads now, and the attitude you described (which extends to those who don't tow the "approved" line, whether newbie or long-time member) is why.
I suggest that those who are puzzled by my absence review the posts around the time of the early primaries of 2008 and perhaps look in the mirror.

I always thought surviving the initial abuse was a bit like running the gauntlet - if you could survive it, then you were a FReeper.
But I guess I can be welcoming - alot of these young’uns sure can be a sensitive bunch can’t they?
Add me to the welcome wagon!

“I think the biggest mistake newbies make is that they have a mr. know it all attitude.
Some also like to post vanities where they are lecturing people.
If the new ones could add some humility to their first posts, it would go a long long way to solving the hostility problem.”
Maybe part of the welcome wagon could include a primer on proper newby etiquette?
