Republicans have a knack for seeing a problem and coming up with exactly the wrong answer. Usually it is the opposite of what its base is telling them to do.
Also, I explained to Smerkonish on radio that you cannot ask pro-lifers to abandon their views on life issues, rather liberal GOPers need to abandon theirs. I cannot vote for a pro-abortion republican hoping to get tax relief because taxes and human life are not equal issues. I could easily vote for a GOPer who may raise taxes (compromising my beleif on that issue) if he or she will defend human life. Since pro-abort GOPers don’t believe a life is at stake in abortion, let them modify their view on that issue and crame their way into the tent.
I couldn’t care less if the OP(formerly the GOP) self destructs. Conservatives are becoming a force to replace the OP.
Our tent is plenty big enough right now. Let those who want to be under it come on in! Let those who don't just get the hell out. Put signs all over the outside of the tent explaining exactly what those in the tent stand for and are willing to sacrifice to see come to pass. If someone reads the signs and doesn't feel like they agree with those in tent, feel free to find another tent, or build one themselves.
You never win by having to force or coerce people to join your team. Tell ‘em what the tent stands for and let them decide. If you have to coerce them into your tent you'll never have their full support. You are better off without them. Nothing’s worse than thinking you can depend on someone when the chips are down, only to find they aren't there when the feces hits the fan.
